Paul Rudnick, the writer of Addams Family Values, had this to say. "I did also want the movie’s name to be a response to the Republican Party’s constant harping on “family values,” as if only conservatives could define a loving family. In Republican terms, “family values” is always code for censorship and exclusion, and Republicans still refuse to respect or even acknowledge, for example, LGBTQ families. I like to believe that the Addams Family is far more loving and accepting than their enemies." So, yeah. Spot on correct.

I've been on YT for 17 years, and you two have just earned my first bell click! Love both of your reactions that much! ✌️😁 And yes, that is Carol Kane from The Princess Bride who took over as Grandmama. She is a highly underrated comedic actress. She also has a hilarious role in Scrooged, but you haven't reacted to that yet.

Some might think I'm crazy, but Joan Cusack gave a performance worthy of an OSCAR nomination!! The muffled laugh (when she's in that car) that just builds and builds is GOLD and considered how brilliantly she delivers her final monologue.

Cusack was the best in this movie. And that's considering amazing performance by main cast.

Fester howling in the beginning is a callback to the first movie when he was freaking out in the bed after trying to fall asleep and Gomez & Morticia knew he was home bc of the screaming lmao

Has Christopher Lloyd ever played low energy? He became famous as stoned out hippy Reverend Jim Ignatowski on the TV show Taxi 1978-1983. It is the actress from Princess Bride, Carol Kane, she was also in the TV show Taxi with Christopher Lloyd in the 70's.

This whole movie was beautiful and hilarious. I love Simone and George’s reaction to the summer camp 🤣 And during the scenes where Debbie was telling her “tragic” backstory, when she asks “The corpse. And his adorable family. You took me in, you accepted me, but did any of you love me? Really love me?” And Gomez yells: “Hands!” If you listen closely, you can hear a rattle of the cuffs (since the family was bound) 🤣 Looking forward to your next review! ❤️❤️

Regarding your question at 4:33 about Christopher Lloyd: maybe Jim on the TV series Taxi? He's kind of a 60s burnout 15 years later in life, and is funny but not wacky or energetic like you're asking.

Reverend Jim Ignatowski was not normal but low energy, humor in Taxi is a bit similar than in the Simpsons because James L. Brooks one of the creators of both.

There was also a flashback episode. Showing pre drug burnout Jim as a preppy college student before discovering drugs.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it here yet, but yes, Chris Lloyd played a low energy stoner character named Jim Ignatowski in the 1978 tv series "Taxi", which ran for 5 seasons. It's one of the best tv sitcoms of all time.

Tiny Skateboards go back all the way to the 1980s. Christopher Lloyd got famous playing a character on the TV show "Taxi" who was a spaced-out pothead and that's probably one of his "Chillest" roles. :D

"Pubert" was one of the names submitted by Charles Addams himself for Puggsley when developing his unnamed characters for TV. Puggsley was chosen instead. Using "Pubert" is one more of these two films' direct homages to the cartoonist. The three-legged baby jumper was directly from one of the original Charles Addams cartoons, way back in the New Yorker magazine. Only in his illustration, it was four legs (iirc). That was the gag, Gomez elated as he enters the living room and finds Morticia knitting the weird jumper. Christopher Lloyd has done normal at times. In the old Taxi sitcom, he was less energetic and more druggy as Reverend Jim. In a flashback episode, he played the character in college, when he was a straight-arrow preppie (before being introduced to the devil's weed).
