Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (or, in more recent editions, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn) is a novel by Mark Twain, first published in England in December 1884 and in the United States in February 1885. Commonly named among the Great American Novels, the work is among the first in major American literature to be written throughout in vernacular English, characterized by local color regionalism. It is told in the first person by Huckleberry "Huck" Finn, a friend of Tom Sawyer and narrator of two other Twain novels (Tom Sawyer Abroad and Tom Sawyer, Detective). It is a direct sequel to The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.
The book is noted for its colorful description of people and places along the Mississippi River. Satirizing a Southern antebellum society that had ceased to exist about twenty years before the work was published, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is an often scathing look at entrenched attitudes, particularly racism.
Perennially popular with readers, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn has also been the continued object of study by literary critics since its publication. It was criticized upon release because of its coarse language and became even more controversial in the 20th century because of its perceived use of racial stereotypes and because of its frequent use of the racial slur "n*gger", despite strong arguments that the protagonist, and the tenor of the book, is anti-racist. (Summary adapted from wikipedia)

At age 73 and having read many, many books in my life I am still proud to claim this novel as my most favorite. I hope those of you who are listening to this recording (and who are studying it for a test) can revisit Huckleberry Finn when you are older so you can savor and enjoy it more on a second reading. Im sorry everynody. Marc ended up in a car accident on his way to school. He didn't hear a firetruck behind him because he was busy listening to an audiobook. He did survive though but quit school, started referring to himself as the serpent king. He took a trip to the Amazon rain forest alone and has not been heard from since.

I cannot help but writing this, thank you the recorder of this book for reading all this long story with your full heart and having nice adventures with them and us. I’m studying English literature in Korea, and 2 years ago, I gave up reading this book bc I thought the amount of this story is too much for me and I wouldn’t be able to read it all. But with your recordings, I finally finished this book within 2 weeks. I appreciate your hard works. I really paid attention to your voice while reading it through, so when the story finally came to the end, I felt your voice got a little bit excited when you say “Chapter the last.” Haha! I was exited when I read that phrase, too. It was nice time to read Huck Finn’s adventure with you. Thank you for your dedication again, I wont forget this story in my life. Thank you.

Reading along with the audio book is a GREAT way to absorb information! It engages 3 senses, (hearing, sight, and tactile) instead of just 1 or 2. This system is a fantastic way to learn, unfortunately most people use audio books as a full stop alternative to actually reading (actually reading a text engages both sight and tactile (holding a book in ur hands and turning pages) senses.).

Huckleberry Finn is one of my great literary loves. I read it for the first time when I was about 12 years old and have read it many times ever since. At the age of 44, I just got through reading it aloud to my 12 year old daughter and she loved it too. I’m listening to your reading to put myself to sleep tonight. You gave Huck the same voice I’ve always heard in my head, soft spoken, sweetly southern, and wise beyond his years. It’s like listening to a beloved friend tell me a bedtime story. Thank you for this.

This has been my favorite fiction book since I first read it at 10 or 12 years old. I so wanted to be like Huck and run away down the Mississippi River. And have the adventures of he and Tom Sawyer.

I was just looking out at the beautiful full moon lighting up the yard, having a quick bit of my apple cigar, when it happened again. Huck started talking about looking up at the beautiful full moon lighting up the river, while having his pipe! Books keep saying exactly what I am experiencing or will say an exact word or phrase I just said?!? Does that happen to anyone else? Is there a name for that?

Absolutely transporting. I close my eyes and I’m barefoot with my feet in warm sand with a catfish on my line. Jim’s cook fire crackles. I can smell the smoke on the breeze.

Masterpiece of a book. The language and slurs only highlight the attitudes of the time. To disregard and ban this is missing the point completely. I genuinely think Twain was pointing out the racial viewpoints of the time not agreeing or reinforcing them. He said was funny clever man, i truly believe his commentary was just that - laughing at the people that held racist view
