In Session 4, Konrad and Khrist brave the Madrigal Mountains on their way north to the village of Madrigal. What will they find in the mist and snow?
Using my new "Tables For One" Solo GM screen, I've used this session to demonstrate how effortlessly you can roll up narrative content for solo (and DM-less co-op) adventures, all while reducing page-flipping and tabletop clutter. Enjoy!

It's such a fluid and minimalist set of mechanics you've got going on here - I love it.

As an audience member, I've gotta say I like to have the rolls be a part of solo AP content. Edit: I made this comment too early in the video. I like the way you've handled it. Taking out the actual roll and number lookup, but making it clear what the question and outcome are.

I really like the Mutant Year Zero/Forbidden Lands system to see if you sopt the enmy or vic-versa. You roll a Find the Path ability before you enter the hex (it's basically a scout roll for supplies and threats, the higher you roll the more stuff you find) if you fail the enemy generaly spots you and perhaps even ambushes you

to take on the fact "does he see me?" i usually do 2 different things: The simplest way is: roll initiative as the game system tells you to do (or just dice-fight), on a party success the enemy is surprised or A bit more complex but works best for me: Make a stealth check of some sort (depending on the system or an oracle considering advantages and disadvantages of the situation and environment), i tend to use the character with the lowest stealth stat in the party; on a success the enemy do not know about the party and the party gain a free attack-round against the monster, after the bonus attack you can finally roll initiative. That's a good way to find excuses to keep your characters alive in an interesting way. PS: if the issue is that you as a GM know that there's an ogre (i.e.) just make a perception check for the party using the highest character's perception-stat

10:47 You could use old school reaction rolls. I think those are good for randomly generated games, as they keep you guessing. Orcs don’t necessarily mean combat that way, which I find more interesting when I play. Another thing you might use is a roll to determine how far away the encountered thing is. And a surprise roll. I guess you’ve seen it, but Questing Beast has a great video about this, and how it can be used in/for dungeons. I’m sure you can use it to make your own version and adapt it to wilderness encounters. Link to QB’s video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6atf3yMmNt7kJY

True - I have a Reactions table on my Tables For One, adapted from a d6 to d20. I just forgot it was there hah! I guess that really is the old school method. I will check out the QB video. Thanks!
