Has got to be the best cartoon creation ever. Witty, unique graphical simplicity, and full of humor and ability to parody historical events with style.

Thanks for this! I always thought these tapes were the best way to watch the show because you got the entire story in one feature and only the best of the side segments. It finally let R&B carry the show instead of giving them 3-5 minutes at the beginning and end. They didn't go to DVD because people were mad they changed from the original format, but that format is VERY annoying to people who aren't familiar with the show. Also, these were the only home video releases with the original music on the bumpers.

I like seeing these from the VHS tapes because they have the original music appropriate for these episodes. The DVDs used the original them on all the seasons. They should've just paid whatever fee Fred Steiner's estate was asking for the rights to use it. This one is my favorite of the two themes.

You mean Frank Comstock. He composed the music for Rocky and Bullwinkle back during the Rocky and His Friends era. Fred Steiner became the main composer once the show switched to NBC and became The Bullwinkle Show. Because they couldn’t get the rights for the music from Comstock’s estate, they had to use Fred Steiner’s compositions which aren’t as iconic. Though one can only hope that they’ll eventually make a definitive restored edition of The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show that restores the original iconic tracks and titles.
@SOLE2SOULАй бұрын
@@SplashSurfer216 Thanks for the correction, I always have trouble remembering which of those guys is which. I do prefer Fred Steiner's themes, shame they wouldn't cough up the dough to secure the music rights. But at least we still have them on the VHS tapes! I'm not gonna hold my breath for a fully restored edition of the show though.

I loved Rocky and Bullwinkle when I was a kid in the early 60s. I especially loved Boris and Natasha, and was totally excited when i started watching opera as a young man in the 1970s and learned that Boris Badenough was the opera, Boris Godenov.

So why do many of us know it by another name? When the original run of the series wrapped production in 1964, the show was repackaged to be shown either as a Weekday morning/afternoon/Saturday morning cartoon, changing its name to The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle (or The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show in some markets). It also aired under this title for decades in syndication, on channels like Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, WGN America, and Vh1 Classic. Also, it returned to ABC Sunday mornings from 1964-73, NBC Saturday mornings in 1981-82 and in prime time on CBS in 1991 for a 2-week run ("The Last Angry Moose" story arc). However the show has had yet another name change -- this year! The series now airs on MeTV Toons, under the name The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle and Friends.
