However, the Demiurge in Valentinianism is quite different in character from the hostile creator figure familiar from other schools of Gnosticism. In the Sethian school, for example, the Demiurge is a hostile demonic force who creates the material world in order to trap the spiritual elements. In contrast, Valentinians "show a relatively positive attitude towards the craftsman of the world or god of Israel" (Layton 1987). Valentinians insisted that while the Demiurge may be a bit foolish, he certainly could not be considered evil. Instead, he has a role to play in the process of redemption. gnosis.org/library/valentinus/Demiurge.htm

@theunorthodoxecclesia In Gnostic thought, the relationship between Bythios and Jesus Christ is often complex and layered. Here are some key points regarding Bythios's comprehension of Jesus: 1. **Divine Emanation**: Jesus is frequently viewed as an emanation from the divine source, which means that Bythios, as the ultimate source, would inherently comprehend all aspects of its emanations, including Jesus. 2. **Unity with the Divine**: Since Jesus is often depicted as embodying divine wisdom and gnosis, Bythios’s understanding of Jesus can be seen as part of the larger understanding of itself. In this view, Bythios is aware of Jesus's role in the cosmic order and his mission to impart knowledge and enlightenment. 3. **Mystery and Transcendence**: While Bythios comprehends Jesus as an emanation, the full nature of that relationship may still embody elements of mystery. Gnostic cosmology emphasizes the complexity of divine relationships, where even a complete understanding does not negate the depth and richness of the connection. In summary, Bythios is generally thought to fully comprehend Jesus Christ as an aspect of itself, reflecting the interconnectedness of all divine emanations in Gnostic belief.
