This was my favorite band in the 90s. Powerful, dirty, sick and sensual. I Couldn't get enough of them. It's good to know they're back. And on Sub Pop, too! That's poetry.

thank God these guys will never be mainstream, "into the floor", is mesmerizing, what a band, what a wonderful album....

Four years on, I'm still listening to this one. While it will never replace classic Whigs albums like _Gentlemen_ or _Black Love_ for me, it's a damn fine album. IMHO, _In Spades_ is Dulli's best work post Black Love. Giving up the smokes made such a difference in his voice.

it is amazing to see how each album shows the growth and depth of talent of every instrument and lyric from Whigs' Big Top Halloween through Gutter Twins to Twilight singers Dynamite steps and bringing all the energy back to the Afghan whigs last two. . this is a beautiful album. I am blown away and more of fan now than ever before.

Album cover, this voice, lyrics and music make me feel like I was in some other dark and obscure, but at the same time exciting and beautiful place. I found this band accidentally and I'm really happy because of that. Great work.

This band is the best kept secret in the history of music.

Very worthy effort, dark, catchy and rocks like classic Gentleman, Black Love era Whigs. I miss McCollum on guitar, but the new guitarist is a good fit and adds something to their sound with his own playing style. Most underrated band of the 90's refusing to rest on their laurels as is made clear by this effort.

Good eye! if you knew that you may also know it is from an episode of the Untouchables, "The Rusty Heller story" If you like her and have not seen her in that it is a stellar performance and available here on KZbin.

Yeah, I Agree I would go so far as to say better than 1965 that just seemed too cheery to be a proper Whigs album. It almost sounds like it would have came between Black Love and 1965.

the Whigs were always rated. Just not by the masses. It's a good thing. Get to see in small venues when Greg and his buddies tour.

Didn't even know until yesterday they had a new album! I have been a fan since 1991/1992. I am glad Afghan Whigs were never huge because I believe this has allowed them to make stunning music and have longevity. One of the only few bands from the 90s that didn't die a horrible death. They may just be able to land their spaceship with dignity.

RIP Dave Rosser. my favorite band since the 90s lots of beautiful music on so many great albums. seeing them live is euphoric . although I can name a bunch I think my favorite bit of music by this band is the bridge in Fountain and Fairfax. it sounds like someone wringing out an ocean of tears! truly one of the great songwriters of rock and roll.

I have been a Whigs/Twilight Singers all around Dulli obsessed fan for over 20+ years. I never thought they (he) could top Black Love, which is my favorite album of all time....yes all time. But godamn if this album (can we still use that term) isn't breathing right down the neck of Black Love.....this is masterful from beginning to end.

I wish I could enjoy it as much as you; like Do to the Beast before it it has its moments but at other times feels a tad flat and samey to me, I don't think the song writing is as strong as it used to be. Still, it's pretty good.
