This clip is taken from a 1 hour video shot by Cara Jane Hunter in 1993. The Afterthought were rehearsing in the back room at 57 High Street, Offord D'arcy, watched by a couple of friends. The band had recently bough a Roland MC50 MkII sequencer and were in the process of programming backing parts for songs previously layered up using a 4-track cassette recorder.
Early on most of out stuff was instrumental, inspired by the Live In Pompeii era Pink Floyd tracks and things like Tubular Bells and Ommadawn by Mike Oldfield, but it was hard to do live with just the two of us and not much gear that was any good. We had some very pleasing lo-fi cassette multitrack recordings of that kind, but this was one of the few tracks that had the power to work live with just the two of us playing. Eventually it got dropped in favour of song-based tracks.
