I have no idea how stickers work in paper tbh, how does it work? You have a sticker deck, right? Is it face up and you just shuffle and get cut?

You have a 10+ card deck of unique sticker cards. You get three randomly at the start of a game (maybe match? Pretty sure it is game)

@@impendio You start with a 10+ deck of sticker sheets. You begin the game, before drawing first 7, by shuffling them (opponent can shuffle/cut as with library) and drawing 3. Those are your sticker sheets for that game.

@@impendio You bring 10 unique sheets, you reveal them, like a companion, and pick 3 at random before each game. Stickers stay on cards until the end of the game or if they move to a hidden zone (the hand or library). When they're removed, they go back to the sheet. By tournament rules, you don't need official sheets as long as you make it clear which sheets and stickers you're using. If you're instructed to put a sticker on a permanent by something you don't own, the unresources page at wizards' website can give you three random ones to use in that game only.

​@@impendioas far as the mechanics of stickers, you can think of them as similar to counters that stay on the card in other zones like grave or exile. Name stickers allow you to modify whatever the card's name is by the sticker you place on it, which can do neat things like allow you to clone a legendary creature because the sticker changes its name.

24:00 BoshNRoll featured this deck on his channel, and had deck architect TonyScapponi as a guest. Tony talked about how the blue tap/untap card is primarily a mana source you can pitch to Force of Will - with a sol land it's a Rite of Flame, and with a Monolith or Jewel it's a Dark Ritual. So yeah it vanishing into exile is fully half of its role in the deck :)

You kinda poo pooed it in your wrapup but that round 3 opponent had you dead to rights on their final untap game 2 and they threw it away for a single urza token. If they just tapped for mana and fetched a petal, they had the transmute for jewel just from the cards they showed. Then they have 3 fresh ones and sum total 4 mana face up and the miss rate for doing that with as many resources as they had on the table is probably in the small single digits. The whole match was very much pilot error and not deck strength

That round 3 opponent looked like they were on Tony Scapone's latest Jewel deck. They might have been still learning it though, because there are a lot of intricate lines, especially with the transmute artifacts.

I've been playing timeless goblins a little bit here and there. It is a similar list except for the obvious cards it is missing, but it is also running 4 copies of sneak attack and 4 copies of skirk prospector so that you can sac muxus for one R and then push another muxus to board or a chieftain or matron to get a muxus. I'm personally also using a single copy of Exuberant fuseling which is an insane card in a deck that has a turn that plays 3 muxus. Just some thoughts on cards that you might want to consider in the future. I just woke up, so hopefully this makes any sense.

Round 3 looks like the tony scapone coveted jewel deck, since that's one of the only decks that'd play dreams grip. Interesting how you face it now, presuming you recorded your league very recently, brians video probably threw it into the spotlight. They also looked like a fairly new pilot to such a deck, since they forgot things like one ring trigger on cast vs etb.

In game 5, round 2 (I think), you could have considered playing Broadside Bombadier and throwing the Goblin Matron still rather than playing Fury pre-combat. You miss 1 point of damage, but the upside is having the flexibility of playing Fury the next turn and potentially throwing it for 7 points of damage. Solid plays though and good videos.

The difference between Goblins and White Initiative is that you can play magic against Goblins. Initiative would cast WPA on turn 1, then play lock pieces and there was nothing you could do as the initiative mechanic won the game for them. Goblins is higher variation. It loses to combo. It is not fast enough to beat the really fast decks. It doesn't have white removal or blue interaction. I like it where it is and don't think changes are needed in paper. MTGO should change how Mind Goblin works to match paper, if possible.

Does this mean that in all paper legacy events, every deck that uses Reanimate or Metamorph will need to take sticker sheets just in case they need to copy an opponent's name sticker goblin for some reason?

No, #30 has "Delusionary" for 6. There are two others that give you 5. Because of the way stickers work, you have a 70% chance of getting at least 5 mana from your first sticker goblin, and you know how much it will be before you make mulligan decisions. @@Playingwithproxies

IMO "Name sticker goblin" is really just a better "White Plume Adventurer". The current turbo goblins iterations would probably beat pre-ban WW initiative. Try it out for next video. A no-ban legacy 5 match challenge b/w White Plume initiative and Turbo Stickers... match results might attract the banhammer

Name Sticker Goblin may need a ban. It just enables too much too fast. Few other creature decks have ever had such large bursts of mana and been able to keep them. Broadside is undoubtedly powerful but its close to reasonable when you're paying for it "fairly".

Out of those two options, I would go after Sticker Goblin just to simplify the sticker situation in paper and the errata mess on MTGO. MaRo has mentioned that the sticker cards were supposed to all be balanced so that they were too overcosted to see Legacy play, and Sticker Goblin was a design miss.

having watched a ton of leagues and played with this deck and other non goblin stompy decks that run broadside, I think Name Sticker goblin would hurt this deck more. Losing broadside would hurt, but the ability to just Name Sticker -> Battlecry -> Activate battlecry (or dump another body / second activation on high roll) is still nuts. Broadside offers an insane amount of flexibility and potential power, but I think the fact that it's not letting you play more cards while actively decreasing your permanent count makes it less of a bomb than a 2/2 that can immediately ramp you into a Muxus while benefitting from all of the bonuses that the cards it lets you dump out give.

This game just Super sucks now. I miss the old days. My last fun time was the Mirrodin, Darksteel, Fifth Dawn. But nowadays, it's just not fun anymore. Legacy especially is just "pay to win" these days. Read/watch online what the best decks are. Buy them, and win. Turn 1 wins. What's the point?

Isn't the era you're pointing to an era that is widely regarded as extremely toxic due to the omnipresence of artifact decks? I think if you remove the nostalgia glasses, I think that era was objectively quite unhealthy. Skullclamp, Ravager, and the artifact lands all needed to be banned out of standard, and standard bans hadn't happened in AGES. There is so much to like about current Magic, especially Legacy. I encourage you to give it a try instead of pining over a former format of your younger days. If my videos show anything, it is how much small decisions do actually matter in current Legacy.

@ThrabenUniversity The reason it was fun back then had nothing to do with nostalgia. It's because it wasn't Pay to win yet. Most people (at least where I played) were playing their own decks. Not pre made super decks. I'm done with MTG, and won't be coming back. I tried MTGO again about a year ago, and it's completely pointless unless you're willing to dump cash into worthless digital cards.

@@sy-py Because it's really changed into a format where you can get just blown out and there is very little you can do about it. This deck is just another example of that. When up against it you just risk a sticker goblin into a Broadside to lose the game outright no matter how far ahead you are. It's a format of overpowered top tier decks run amok, with weird combo stuff running in the fringes. Playing anything other than those options is just not viable. I understand that's the format, but I think it's miserable. I missed the variety so I quit legacy and went to EDH.
