The Agniveer Showdown: Should Agniveer Scheme Be Reviewed | Experts On India Today Discuss
The Indian Army on Wednesday stated that the family of Agniveer Ajay Kumar, who died in the line of duty, has been paid Rs 98 lakh as compensation. The Army's statement comes after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi claimed in a social media post that Ajay Kumar's family did not receive any compensation from the government.
"Certain posts on social media have brought out that compensation hasn't been paid to the next of kin of Agniveer Ajay Kumar who lost his life in the line of duty... Of the total amount due, family of Agniveer Ajay has already been paid Rs 98.39 lakhs," the Army statement read.

Nothing should be reviewed as far as security of our nation is concerned. Especially if it is coming from Rahul Gandhi it must be summarily rejected without any hesitation. His integrity is always questionable. He criticised Palakhot strike, he met Chinese ministers when the tussle was going on between Indian Army and Chinese army. So he is just wasting valuable Parliament time. 😡 Not worthy to become an opposition leader.

Ukraine War has completely changed modern warfare to no-contact or low contact warfare. Loitering munition, armed drones, swarm drones, UAVs & GPS system to guide artillery fire, missile, anti-missile systems & mechanized infantry for rapid & secure occupation of territory has added new dimensions. Mechanized infantry also needs protection against enemy's anti-tank missiles. Probability of protracted war has highlighted importance of domestic manufacture & of keeping large inventory. There is need for more high tech weapons. GPS guided armed drones are replacing manned aircraft bombings. Soon robots & AI will enter to fight the war. Moreover, concept of joint tri-service Theater Command calls for same personnel handling inventory meant for common use of three services. Agniveer scheme is consistent with modern warfare. Modern hardware needs to be rapidly inducted by India for the changed war scenario. More over retaining 25% of Agniveers in regular service, shifting others to paramilitary forces & armed police and rest discharged with Rs 20-25 lakh compensation to find suitable jobs is right approach. China is now inducting engineering students in its armed forces & Chinese military is based on stipend getting conscription services for soldiers. China has now also formed a Cyber Space Command and the major powers of the world are creating such commands where IT engineers are required. Rahul Gandhi told two lies in the Parliament regarding Agniveer: First, he mentioned the word Shaheed.. He does not have the basic knowledge that the word Shaheed is not used in the Indian Armed forces, instead "to give Supreme Sacrifice (Veergati)" is used. The second lie was about giving compensation to Agniveer after his Supreme Sacrifice. It is the misfortune of the country that the level of opposition leader has fallen so low in modern India, in the era of Google when correct information is available in a second.
