I LOVE the vampire coast! Not being constrained to occupying land mass. And just focusing on fire power and projection :) The main quest is what made me so interested in other lord campaigns. Sorry to hear the AI broke your game. Just FYI to those that are interested. If you focus regen skill tree where you get 30% + for casualty replenishment early. This will allow you to focus more on land dominance. And RITES are super useful for loyalty and getting the best artillery in the game for sieges. You also get a natural buffer if you focus on vampiric corruption. Enemies will be half gone due to attrition once they enter your lands. So, AI will avoid you. My other favorites. (Imrik / Belegar Ironhammer / Markhus / Belthasar Gelt.)

You can get super goofy with Noctilus and end up with a hyper early Necrofex Colossus doomstack. I was playing a Mortal Empires campaign and by turn 30 was rampaging across the Old World with my entire team of mobile shipwrecks. Anyway, good review. I personally haven't done the Vortex in any form because I get bored and want to screw around rather than actually do the important things.

That's part of the whole vortex campaign, you can fail.

Very true. That being said, losing the vortex race vs. your AI "ally" breaking a quest, preventing you from completing your campaign are on somewhat different levels of 'fail'.
