We grew up listening to The Hollies back from 1964 onwards. Even at eight years old I was fascinated by the musical aspects of these new groups. Alan Clarke had a rich, powerful but pleasant sound, (as did Graham Nash, though completely different). Great Era and many more groups and songs on the way...even now...timeless!

These guys were part of the British invasion of the '60s, along with the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the Who. The had hits with "Bus Stop" & Carrie Ann" as well. In the '70s this song and "He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother" played on the radio all day. For me their biggest hit was "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress". It is one of those songs from the first 3 notes you knew what was coming. It's up there with Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water" and Derek & the Dominos "Layla".

thats so funny, because Im in my 50s and this song came on in the car the other day, my 10 yr old daughter was in the backseat and I asked her to stop what she was doing and just listen to this song with me, ...by mid song we where singing it together along with the radio. It was an epic moment, because I know she will remember that day whenever she hears that song again..love it and you are great as well

I was actually in a BWW’s the other day having dinner with my girlfriend and it was pretty crowded. This song came over the Jukebox after Long Tall Woman and when the the chorus came up almost everyone in the place started singing. It was So Awesome!!!!

Yep, yep, one of my favorites of theirs. (1972). I never could make out exactly what he was singing on that song until I could see the lyrics but I loved the groove!. Also one of their early ones I like is from 1966 "Bus Stop" when Graham Nash was still with them. Or "Stop, Stop, Stop, "Look Through Any Window" and "Carrie Anne"

The only way I can describe this song is anthemic... I'm 59 now, and I've been listening to this song for a very long time... it's a classic so it will appear on a radio station, tv or youtube at least a couple of times a month... everytime I hear it some kind of memory or feeling comes back... it really is a lovely song...
