I've met far too many people who loathe the taste of water because they were raised drinking literally nothing but soda and juice. Plain water to them is disgusting which is so bizarre to me. We need to stop giving our kids so much of that shit and teach them that drinking flavorless drinks is normal and fine.

As a teacher from Germany I have to say that these bottles used to be EVERYWHERE some months ago. Consider calling it a "resin code" instead of "recycling triangle". The design fools consumers into thinking plastics are more recyclable than they actually are, and the technical name avoids reinforcing that association for the plastics manufacturers who intended it.

That is among the reasons I am attempting to focus on reusable items made out of glass or metal. Glass is more recyclable than metal, but at least they are both more recyclable than paper and plastic. And yeah, paper is biodegradable, but that still isn't a good excuse. That said, I want people to talk more about cradle-to-cradle designs, which are a step above recyclable designs.
@TazPessle

I really wish these resin codes (very appropriate name) were actually used more. Like the councils 'recycling guide' that talks about meat trays and yoghurt pots, but never simply says "yes to 1, 2, 4 and 7, no to all others". Then governments make the codes compulsory, even for films of plastic (they can be inked on), suddenly you really could exclude non-recyclables as a purchase decision.

I drink a lot of water myself, but I've noticed that for the people who were raised in a family that always had flavoured drinks, they have to push past that consciously. A lot of people don't seem to want to. If I drank a glass of orange squash as a kid (cordial), and then immediately followed it up with some water, the water would taste a bit bad just because of the comparison. It tasted plain and therefore, unenjoyable. Same kind of "eugh" reaction as drinking orange juice just after brushing your teeth - the comparison of the two flavours is what tastes bad? Problem is, these people who never drank plain water as kids (due to lack of access, childhood stubbornness, or whatever) don't *know* what a plain glass of water is like. They are always comparing it to something sweet and flavourful, which it will never live up to - for obvious reasons. I moved to a different area with harder water and I did not like it when I first arrived, but I love plain water, so eventually I worked out that if I put ice in it it'd "cover up" the mineral taste. And now I actually like it, just because I drank it enough to get used to it!! So I know it's doable... you just have to try. But a lot of people don't want to push past the initial "eugh" and do that. Which is kinda sad.

@@JohnDoe-hj9fh convinced people claiming tofu has no taste are deliberately lying. It’s so clearly got a taste and it’s not pleasant, and it’s there no matter what marinades you try. The best marinades can do is make the gross tofu flavour a little more palatable. Water definitely has a taste and the tastes differ by region you get the water from. I’m fine with it plain but prefer it flavoured, like with some lemon, etc. Sometimes I wonder if some people genuinely can’t taste the flavours in these things, and it’s like a weird genetic difference or something. I’ve wondered if it could be an “untrained palate” issue where they just can’t detect more “nuanced” flavours, but I don’t think that’s it. Maybe it’s like how people think of vanilla ice cream as being plain ice cream even though it’s literally flavoured with vanilla; like, maybe people just consider it flavourless because they see it as the neutral default? Idk, makes no sense to me lol.

As someone who genuienly genuinely enjoys AirUp, I think it's super different from person to person. It works great for me, I enjoy the flavors, it works and has helped me drink more water instead of soft-drinks. I think calling it a scam is just a straight up lie.

I have an air up bottle and yes it does not taste like soda but it actually does flavor your water without adding anything. All of these bad comments are from people that have never tried it. And to be fair I don’t think this guy even tried it.

I have an eating disorder and will not drink water because of it. To me, water doesn't just taste like nothing. Water is absolutely vile. Also the watered from my tap is the worst. I liked my air up. It did make me drink more water, and I did replace all my other drinks with water from the air up, but it was the cost that made me stop using my bottle. I simply couldn't afford it and I'd be lucky if the 3 pack pods lasted me 6 days.

I think “Scsm” is kinda harsh, especially if it does what it says and encourages more use of refillable water bottles over other single use options. You don’t have to be perfect to be better.

but these things claiming to be good for the environment fall very much behind any other normal refillable bottle that don't come with those plastic rings.. just use any flavour syrup or tea or coffee of you liking instead? or just enjoy the great refreshing taste of plain water? that's still a thing xD

@@lalystar4230 The question to ask is, is the average person buying this replacing a regular water bottle or replacing single use drinks. I suspect it's the later and that's the audience their targeting. Would making your own flavored drink be better? Sure. But I don't know how many people are going to do that. But if buying this, causes you to buy one fewer single-use drinks per week, I think that's a net win for the planet in terms of less waste create. Those plastic disks are tiny. Yes it would be better if they were recyclable, but it's still better than a weeks worth of other bottles ending up in the trash.
@lalystar4230

@@sethgrandeau9267 if that's the target audience, then sure. Here in the Netherlands a ton of people have bottles of syrup and just pour it in glasses when at home or in travel bottles when going out. Yes we do buy single use bottles of soda as well, just generally not that many, and if we do, we always bring them back to a recycle station, coz empty plastic bottle = money xD and Dutch people are cheapskates hahaha

So I have ADHD. Firstly, water is VERY boring to me. Couple that with object permanence and hyper focus, and I tend to forget to drink water unless I place in directly in my field of vision. I saw Kall Me Kris and Game Theorists promote it for over a year. I did a lot of research, tried some different fruit waters here at home, and finally gave in and bought a damn Air Up bottle. I genuinely gave it a good try for about 2 months before I gave up. It didn't really work for me. I switched to Cirkul and have been happy with that for about a year now.

I am so glad more and more youtubers are calling out this company. I HATE seeing youtubers I otherwise trust and like promoting stuff like this, betterhelp, raid shadow legends and established titles. They should have enough integrity to research to see if the product is, you know. Good. And whether they genuinely use it and like it. Must of them simply take the money and say whatever. It is gross, and takes advantage of people who admire them and don't have the backbone to not follow their sponsorship advice, particularly children. Disgusting practise
@gijsw8681
@gijsw8681 2 ай бұрын
Lol betterhelp is an actual bad company, raid shadow legends is just a bad game but still a choice to play. Yeah dunk on bad companies but air up isnt a good one to “call out” whilst they literally say what they are and do nothing extensively bad, yeah maybe a bit expensive and theres other options, but it also helps people, like just avoid it if u dont believe in the product 😂its not like betterhelp or other shit companies doing actual harm or scamming like that “become a lord “ thing” . But yea just avoid youtubers that take any and all brand deals, its crazy how they can just promote anything without thinking further

Rule of thumb: If it has to advertise through youtubers rather than regular advertisement. Its hot garbage. If it has to advertise, its garbage If it gets around without ads, its gud stuff. Sponsorships are great for youtubers, and they usually (hopefully) get paid beforehand to just put the ad segment into their videos. But generally speaking - dont actually go buy the shit advertised. Cus its shit.

Do I really have to get bitten by a cobra or engage in hand to hand combat with a grizzly bear to know that both are a bad idea? Besides, this video wasn't really critiqing the product so much as pointing out the problems with the basic business model. And one way or another, we've all "tried" that business model before.

@@rodh1404 he literally said it was fucking stupid without testing it and your cobra comparison isn't really philosophically accurate. Plus if we were only using unproblematic products there wouldn't be much of a device left watching this video, so if there are people liking AirUp, why don´t you just let them like it, especially if your opinion is based on some random reviews that are and I quote the video "mixed" and not bad at all...
