Coming on great Mick, it amazes me how you can do all that with only shading and a few little pencil lines, I like the cut out paper, as you seem to do more with this than other guys do with bought stencils.
@mickeyracer6 жыл бұрын
Douglas Taylor I like to make my own stencils or shields, i think when i first started i was a little tight 😂 and refused to buy stencils so learned to make my own, saying that there are a few curves from artool which i would be lost without

I am only starting and I need all the tips I can get, I can begin with the paper and advance later to some of the bought ones, I shall have to get my airbrush out of the box first. LOL

Hi Mick, I really enjoyed your two videos and have learned much . You are obviously very talented and a great teacher as well. I live in the USA and had a heck of a time finding florest web. I finally found a supplier in Australia. The product itself was inexspensive however the shipping is $25 USD and I'm sure it will take forever to get here. As a devoted airbrush artist I guess i'll do what is necessary to achieve that realism. I sure wish I could attend one of your classes but there Is a large pond in front of me. lol Please, please please, when is video #3 coming? Thanks for everything!

Goat hiya buddy, i really didnt think that it would be difficult to find, but it seems quite a few overseas have struggled to find a supplier, im filming part 3 tomorrow, so should be up over the weekend , thanks for you support, really appreciate it 👍👍👍

I'm a bit behind in watching these videos, but lovin em. My only reservation - Solvent based Inspire and others is preferred paint so erasing once it's laid isn't really an option. But crackin instruction, keep it up.
@mickeyracer7 жыл бұрын
Davie Johnstone hey Davie, you can erase solvents just as good, the only issue you have is you need to clearcoat your white panel/area first, prep with around 800p and your good to go, this will allow you to erase but build up slowly, i did it for years before i used waterbased, love your work BTW 👍

Hey Mick...firstly, awesome work and tutorials..the best bar none..to the point and accurate! Im an artist using acrylics,oils and watercolours and getting back into airbrushing. My main question is on substrates... Im into portraits so am wanting a surface I can scratch when needed. Looked at all options,gesso and acrylics and canvas with gesso and on and on. I want to do portraits from 500mm x 800mm to very large,,say 3 feet x 6 foot. Am looking for surfaces I can paint straight onto or prep many at once and a smooth surface. any ideas on this.??Once again great content,,thank you so much. Mark ..New Zealand

@zisis1974bfl7 жыл бұрын
GREAT video indeed!!! Can u please explain again why you're using opaque(and not transparent) as your 1st color?
@mickeyracer7 жыл бұрын
zisis1974bfl the reason i prefer to use an opaque to start with is it stops me going too dark, with a transparent the more you work it and add layers of paint the darker it gets, with an opaque colour once it reaches its full coverage it never gets any darker doesnt matter how much you add. Also for years of painting portraits on transparents i felt there was something missing and the paintings looked a little flat, so i tested using an opaque to start with and much prefered the whole look and feel of the painting, may just be a personal preference, but its worth a try to see how you feel Thanks Mick

what is the smallest size canvas/material would you recommend a novice airbrush artist use to do this level of detail? The texture tools obviously are going to be the same size on the canvas so going to small of a canvas would make the skin texture too large and the smaller image would make the detail much more difficult correct? Thanks for your feedback in advance!
@mickeyracer4 жыл бұрын
A3 size is about the best size, as you say A4 can be a little small to start out with, as your airbrush strokes have to be smaller to give correct scale, a3 is a little more forgiving and makes a nice size picture to hang if all goes well Cheers Mick

Hello, I have an airbrush Iwata and the problem is when I want to make a fine line I cannot get the color out and when I press the trigger more a lot of color comes out, I do not use special colors for airbrushes, just use oil colors and dilute them with petrol, please help me, thanks
