Hi I’m new to shooting and have had some practice at a few ranges now, I would now like to go out rabbit shooting. I live in the UK near to the pennies, Ashton under Lyne to be specific. Now reading online they’re is conflicting info on what and where I can shoot. Is it legal to go up onto the moores as it isn’t privately owned and shoot?

Not sure what kind of crazy rabbits you got over there mate, but here in the eastern US they are wayyyyy dumber. I could sit outside on my deck, plink a bunch of cans, take a few laps around the yard then grill a burger and the rabbits would be hanging out exactly where they were at the start 😂. Crazy how different they can be. Regardless, cheers!

Price has nothing to do with it - FAC rifles are only a few pounds more than the 12 ft/lbs versions. More to do with willingness to work through the application process and suitability of the applicant. FAC just gives a little more range, stability in wind, flatter trajectory and greater impact. But 12 ft/lbs is still more than adequate and an accurate shot will kill a rabbit/squirrel at 30 yards just as effectively as FAC.

You would be surprised how cheap FAC airguns can be. They tend to have a lower second-hand value than sub-12 models. Thanks for watching. Mat

If you're pushing its optical quality than you should demonstrate it with an optical test. A tracking test should basic.

Any excuse to use a expensive FAC air Gun, you could have used sub 12 .

You are correct, I most certainly could have used a sub-12 airgun on this occasion. However, with a more powerful option in the cabinet, and not knowing whether wind would be a problem, it seemed logical (and ethical) to go with FAC. I am hoping to line up another rabbit shoot for the next episode and will try to go with an affordable sub-12 model to show that you don't have to spend a fortune to bag a few bunnies.
