Failure is such an important part of society that we've grown really caustic to experiencing. I was reprimanded in school many times to start learning from other people's failures, and now most failures are hidden, creating a norm of impossible expectation and isolation. A norm which is eagerly exploited by corporations to suppress wages and inflate expectations beyond what can be achieved in reality. Celebrate and normalize failure! Focus (as you do) on what you can learn, and how to learn it. I'm always upset at people being derogatory of assumption, as humans we are assumption engines, assumption is all we have ever done and we can be really good at it, but the core of good assumption is a framework of understanding to inform and guide us, built on analyzing failures. If the failures are all hidden, the engine runs lean, and the assumptions become worse, leading to more failures, and more effort spend hiding them!

Those who troll with unvetted assumptions don’t think this way. They don’t build either. Nor do they spellcheck. It’s all in the bundle. People who think, “If it can’t be bought, it must not be necessary.” will never get it. These types want entertainment while builders want to learn. They search for pre-made kits and adapters and plan their creations around what everybody else is doing rather than understanding materials and creating things with acquired knowledge. That’s the hard part they cannot be patient enough to do. Not really sure why they would even click on some of these topics. Okay, was that a rant or what? You are far more gracious! Great Channel!

An old friend of mine once said, "people come up with some great ideas, and spend their time talking themselves out of it in case they fail." Everybody needs a failure, it's the only place to get just the right piece of material you were looking for.

While the electric conversion isn't my cup of tea in still looking forward to the videos of the process. To the haters about your ability or your material selection, chances are they aren't even attempting anything they MAY fail at so their opinions are worth what you paid for them. I thoroughly enjoy your channel, keep it up.

Hey, Everybody with a half a brain knows a glorified golf cart (ie telsa) will not be practical for "fly over" America, for another 50 to 100 years, but the electric Jeep is kind of a neat idea. Nobody says he is going to head out on a 2 week fishing trip to Canada with it, but it will be a neat toy to run around the farm with and the kicks solving the problems building it will be priceles.

My favourite comment was “ Jeremy makes things” not “Jeremy buys things” I heard it about a year back . My absolute best film was making the travelling steady , that thing looks unique and superb. This channel rings true with a lot of the things I do , the fact you try everything and show us any errors along the way help us to learn as well.golden. And you have motorcycles

Your channel is somehow the complete opposite of channels like from Stefan Gotteswinter where even parts of a towel holder have to be within +/-0.0001mm 😄. You use what you have instead of always buying the theoretical optimal stock, you make it just as precise as it has to be (and sometimes even less that that), and you don't take yourself too seriously with a great sense of humor. Love it! 👍

A Few things here. One, I like what you do and how you do it. As an aspiring 63 year old self taught "Home Machinist" myself, guys like you who show the good and the bad are invaluable to me. If I wanted to see perfect parts with perfect surface finishes cranked out end to end all day, I would just sit and watch CNC machines go round and round. As the owner/operator of a Chinesium Mini Lathe that I have completely rebuilt from one end to the other, including swapping out a longer bed, plus a clapped out 3 in 1 Smithy lathe/mill combo that was given to me free as a barn find, I can absolutely appreciate the trials and tribulations making parts from available materials on marginal machines with a limited budget and cramped time schedule entails. Two, I like your attitude also, keyboard experts and mouth runners need to spend more time making chips and less time criticizing those of us trying to learn this stuff without the benefits of formal education, pristine machines and unlimited budgets. Keep on keeping on and Merry Christmas to ya.

Dang, I feel for you. I went through some tough years in my life and i know the feeling. But I worked my ass off, spent several years working on the other side of the country in a place where i was miserable every day, saved some money, got married, came home, bought a house, and now I LOVE the holidays. I look forward to them every year. Whatever works for you, I hope you find happiness and fulfillment. Also, jeez these comments… People who have no idea what they’re talking about, obviously have no experience or knowledge, yet somehow are 100% convinced that they are experts. Oh, happy festivus :)

I have spent a couple of months cating up with your videos and have enjoyed each one. Thank-you for making them. As for the electric jeep, Go for it man!! I am a radio amateur and have caught so much flack from people about how I am ruining my classic radio(KWM-2 Collins) by making it modern. I told them that Mr Collins himself would appreciate how we keep a 65 year old radio on the air even if we don't use NOS parts for the "Originality". I am a user and not collector. This was rad! Nothing demonstrates a low IQ quite like telling a creative person that they are doing creativity wrong. I can imagine same idiots that wrote those being in a public restroom and commenting to their neighbor “bro, you’re totally shitting the wrong way”. There are a million ways to arrive at the same destination, and he got there. By manually machining and hardening his own broaches. Anybody who shits on that has spent zero time actually machining.

C. Boykin here: Just finished watching your Jeep Rescue video and then the grievances one. Where would civilization and science be without pragmatists? I think true intelligent must include knowing when and where to approximate or to proceed without certainty. It’s called experimenting! I can’t think of many if any inventions that didn’t leave room for improvement and the real world demands that we know when “close” is close enough. Everything isn’t rocket science and not recognizing this impedes valuable progress.
