Hi David, Its always good to watch your videos and all the info I can get from them. I perform in a seated position ever since I started playing acoustic guitar. Am trying to incorporate a Cajon in my looping using a mic inside it. For some reason I don't like a digital input system as you are using but after thinking about it, one can get a get a good clear/crisp sound with a digital input device like the Akai compared to using a mic which pick up external noises. Again, Thanks for all the videos and all the effort you put into making them. Cheers!

hey Rodden! That's awesome that you're using a cajon! ...I actually have a cajon and have been playing around with putting it into my looping setup, but so far no videos of it yet haha! Like you I also prefer a natural/real sound compared with a sample pad like this - but I have found for loud venues in particular, it's very handy to have these without the issues of a mic picking up extra noise when looping! Seems to have very similar sounds to my kat ktmp1 but I like that is smaller and I can mount it on a ipad stand.

I saw a demo of the Akai Mini Play and the guy in the video ran the audio out through some effects pedal (all the usual suspects of course, reverb, delay, etc.) and it was an immediate upgrade in quality. If you know someone with the Play, you should get ahold of it and try it out with the effects pedals.

I think MPX8 is portable and can enrich percussive sounds made on guitar only. I use Boss RC-1 which has two in/out. The pity is that I can not use looper for vocal the same time. I am still looking for some "PAD assigment standard" - if kick, snare, clap are always in some common position or if it is random assigment to samples. Now I am awaiting Novation Circuit Tracks for more fun.

This doesn’t have a sequencer if that’s what you’re asking. But - you could have midi info sent to it, and a 1 bar sample set on loop and it would do this.

yeah I'm a fan of this little unit - the best part for me is definitely being able to load up my own sounds on the SD card.

yep does take a while for me too haha! Using a 95mbs card, more so about how it loads each .wav file individually I think 🤷‍♂️

does any one know if this could be used to trigger sample tracks between songs live. Look for something easy to trigger live , just need to play different ambient tracks between songs.

hey Matthew - this can't trigger external samples, but you could load in tracks on an SD card into the unit if you wished to do it that way. Are you at a live show, or streaming with a computer? (or something else? haha).
