Most folks don't know that when Laurence Harvey (Colonel William Barret Travis, SC) fired the cannon, it recoiled and came down on his foot, breaking it. That scene was one cut. He didn't flinch. Hell of an actor.
@davidcolantuono36223 жыл бұрын
I've heard about that, but in this scene when the cannon is fired, it doesn't recoil at all. Notice the cannon when it's fired in this scene. It goes off, but it doesn't move at all. Since the cannon doesn't move at all, how did it land on Travis's foot?
@blackdevildog64163 жыл бұрын
@@davidcolantuono3622 You can look up where it shattered his foot. He's got his boot off getting it wrapped by medical staff on set. And several of the actors that witnessed it attest to it happening.

@@blackdevildog6416 I watched this scene again. And, I looked with my dad. Neither one of us saw the cannon recoil in this scene. I suspect that it was another scene. In fact, there is another scene with Harvey close to a cannon that, after firing, *DID* recoil. I believe it's during the first wave attack somewhere.

Gotta respect this General Santa Ana; Mexico wasn't even fully Mobilized then, imagine the damage they would have done of they were fully Mobilized?
@lucassimmons34968 ай бұрын
They were fully mobilized… he just had so many people revolting against him that he had armies in every corner of Mexico making his conduct in Texas look tame in comparison. One of his right hand subordinates effectively wiped out the state of Zacatecas following his orders

The Mexican herald (Lt. Rodriguez? Lt. Reyes?) was quite an impressive horseman. The actor playing him though looked and sounded more like a Spaniard than a real Mexican. Moved like a bullfighter.
