This is incredibly interesting and let me explain why... I received eight rounds of total body irradiation, and a few rounds of chemotherapy for blood cancer that I had a couple years ago. Before then, and throughout my 20s, I would experience bouts of depression or low mood... not regularly, rather I'd go through seasons. The depression was tangible for me, though. However, after my treatments for cancer, something changed in my mind, in some strange kind of way it almost seems like my treatments altered the depression. I just didn't feel that type of depression in that part of my brain anymore. Radiation and chemotherapy obliterates everything in the body... so I began to wonder if radiation destroyed a harmful bug that was emitting these chemicals/messages to my brain. Anyway, it sounds ridiculous typing it out but I still wonder.

You never know..... I had a similar experience, from my early teens to late 30's I was living a lie, most of the time I was depressed, I could sleep for 24 hours and still be tired. I always felt I didn't want to live I guess. Anyway I plodded on, I never had much health issues so I'm lucky I guess. Never really took any drugs for anything medical. However, around the age of 40 I was washing in the shower and felt lumps under my arms, both my arm pits lymph nodes had swollen and they were like a bags grape's . I was straight on to a doctor's appointment. The doctor was his usual non-reaction mode and prescribed some antibiotics, he muttered something about virus and proceeded to was his hands after prodding my arm pit. Anyway,I took the medication and felt tired and sore around the chest and strangely the throat and neck. Oddly,after about 3-6 months I realised my brain fog had gone, I slept better, i don't need as much sleep, I wake quite happy and I no longer have the doom and gloom in my head. Obviously life events happen but the are manageable. Perhaps a coincidence, but the difference in my own being is obvious to me. The before and after, I was different and I'm all the happier for it.

I tried SSRIs for severe depression but they didn't work. I was referred to a Chinese doctor who had a reputation for curing depression. She asked me about my diet and whether or not I had noticed any unusual reactions. I told her that eggs gave me severe asthma attacks, and that this had never happened before. She was just nodding along and writing down a prescription for three medications. They were for antibiotics. I thought she was nuts. I asked her what exactly antibiotics have to do with depression. She smiled and said that I had bad gut bacteria that needed to be killed. I took them and three days later I never, ever experienced depression again.

They miseinterpret data and draw false conclusions all the time and alot of time driven by conflict of interests(selling books or products). For my, again I will sound arrogant, really logical and decently informed and intelligent mind, it seems logical to me that its the quality nutrient uptake that makes all the difference in ones body and brain. The resulting bacteria in the large intestines is exactly that, a result of a healthy diet and to claim these bacteria are responsible for neurotransmitters in the brain is ludicrus and backwards. If someone were to put healhty bacteria in your large inestines then how on earth is that gonna solve the lack of nutrient uptake? They are trying to flip the whole system upside down. It all starts what you ingest, how you ingest it, how good is your stomach acid and then how does it get absorbed.

By saying plants he means different kind of fibers. He isn't very clear... Good gut bugs thrive with fiber. Top it up with sourkraut, some kefir and you are good to go!
@NothingByHalves Жыл бұрын
Bad gut bugs also thrive with fiber. If there's an imbalance, then both will be fed, and with the addition of sugar/starches or processed foods it can cause a debilitating overgrowth of the bad stuff, which then can expose us to a plant's natural protective toxins (e.g. oxalates). I learned the hard way - on No Plant GAPS at the moment to heal a very damaged gut. Sauerkraut and other fermented vegetables (kvass) are on the cards, and eating live yoghurt made from raw milk (unable to tolerate dairy for 10 years, but now it seems I can), and brewing my own kefir. Decades of severe anxiety and panic attacks disappeared practically overnight when I cut all plants. Quite incredible how that works.

Organic vegetables get sprayed as well. Just with different chemicals. Make sure, to do some research, before you blindly trust in them being 100% healthy. And stuff that's imported...well. How trustworthy do you feel 'organic' produce from South America or China or even Southern/Eastern European countries (more of an issue for me) really is? Supervision isn't exactly stellar and it seems, that whenever someone bothers to look closely, cheating is an issue. Which isn't surprising, giving the pressure to make a profit. Of course, if you have access to local sources, that's different. But I personally don't particularly trust 'organic' produce from the supermarket.

If you have sibo forget about plants!
@snipsnupix Жыл бұрын
Yes sibo is challenging. You don't have to eat raw vegetables, steamed veggies for instance are easier to digest although some good components are being destroyed, some amount still remains.

Still no knowledge about what mb causes best outcome. His example of the Hadsa mentions sterile food and antibiotics which confounds any implied causality. As for 30 different plants how about first cutting out junk and plants that irritate your gut before you go with unscientific guff about Mediterranean diet (what is that?) Compared with anti depressants (known to be ineffective). But research grants to find and books to sell so on he goes😢
