This reworked version is amazing. I wasn't expecting to be all up in my feelings and vibes when this came across my subscriptions page just now. Absolutely incredible. I couldn't believe how awesome this sounded when played live when I saw you guys in Atlanta. Matt's violin gets me every time.

I’ll admit I’m a new fan who discovered The Album Leaf a few years ago through a fellow Mogwai fan who recommended Between Waves as an introduction to Jimmy LaValle’s work, which I immediately fell in love with. This “new” album is the perfect bridge from the current sound to the “old” albums that I’ve only recently been discovering. I know that a lot of OG fans aren’t fond of Between Waves, and I get it- there are several bands that I feel kinda gatekeeper-y about “new fans” who haven’t been listening for years like I have, especially if it seems they only like the band’s newer sound. But I honestly feel that the One Day XX rework has guided me to a true appreciation of the original album and the entire pre-Between-Waves era of LaValle’s music. While I do look forward to more electronic-focused music in the future, I’m also very very excited about all of the older material I have yet to listen to. (I’m taking my time because I like to truly *listen* to an album or EP, not just some background music to throw on while I do housework or something.)

Hey jimmy, love your works. Been listening to your works for a long time, since this first released. I remember having this song in my ipod shuffle, staring at the night sky, lying on the grass by the track field oval.. a fan from the Philippines.
