A few years ago, I bought a Strandberg copy (Eart) and it was a very cost effective way to find out that I absolutely love the ergonomics Strandberg provides. Being able to sit in the classical position is a game changer. Last year I decided to pull the trigger on a real Strandberg because of how much I love the design and wanted to support the company that innovated it. I really recommend people try this style of guitar in any way they can, then if you can afford it, upgrade to the real thing, you won't regret it.

That's exactly what I did too. I got an Eart because of the low price, to test out the ergonomics, and really loved it, so I went ahead and got two Strandbergs. The Eart is great for its price, but it's no Strandberg in terms of weight, tuning stability (with tremolo or with it locked), and finish. But for those who don't have the budget for a Strandberg, it's a great bang-for-the-buck. In fact, the pickups sounded quite similar to the pickups on my Plini neck-thru model that I was really surprised.
@BobJones-bh9qz
@BobJones-bh9qz Жыл бұрын
On the Eart, is the neck like a traditional guitar or does it copy the endure neck?
@stevensiwinski
@stevensiwinski Жыл бұрын
@@BobJones-bh9qz It has a traditional neck shape. I would honestly feel weird about buying something that copied Strandberg's patented neck shape. My experience with the Endurneck is that it was a little strange at first, but after 5 minutes of playing it, it disappeared and felt very natural.

if you're into 7 strings, I think the strandberg headless style/fanned frets in general are a game changer for those. the ergonomics makes it loads easier to play and the fanning makes it super satisfying on every string. the reduction of that floppy, rattle-y low string is a huge selling point to me. i haven't seen any knockoffs in 7 strings so im not sure yet
@carlchameleon9847
@carlchameleon9847 Жыл бұрын
not really "knockoff" but look at nk guitars! they have 7s and 6 strings, and they seem to have really quality necks, but ive heard the pickups are hit and miss. pretty cool, somewhat budget option for a headless custom looking guitar
@jimmybags1494
@jimmybags1494 Жыл бұрын
nobody asked but I've been playin for a long time, lots of tech death and prog type stuff. When I had my Boden 7 as well as a 6, sweeping was a complete nightmare with the fan. I couldn't ever come to grips with it. I ditched them a few years ago and have just been back on regular frets. Just my two cents if anyone was curious for a different POV

@@carlchameleon9847 Yeah it really screwed me up. The fan on the 7 wasn't bad at all but the 6 sucked because the parallel fret is the first fret so as you go up the neck the fan gets real gnarly, at least for me

"I can fit it all in the frame" - Now I got it! That's the whole point of headless guitars: they fit better in KZbin videos. I really like the idea of playing in classical position without needing a foot rest on the floor or having to sit around some big bulky thing as that Harley Benton Dullahan model.

This is what I've been looking for, a less expensive version of the Strandberg. I had always wanted a Steinberger, the archetypal headless guitar, which have been around for ages, but could never find one that I could afford at the time. The most I've ever paid for a guitar was around $800. Thanks for this, just subscribed!

@frankyfire-tech

If you're looking inro getting a Strandberg Style guitar for less money (about 1.000$), you might look into GOC guitars. They only sell in batches and through a few stores (where they are mostly not in stock). But if you're lucky enough to get one, it will serve you well! In my opinion, the quality is close or even on par to a Strandberg and they've made enough effort to create their own design to not just be a blatant copy. Only the pickups were not my taste, but that might happen to you on a strandberg too.

Well, I've seen John McLaughlin playing them quite a lot in the latter years. If he's playing something, I have to give it every consideration. That aside, were I to consider it, I'd have to go all-in, as there would be no other way to get whatever it is he gets out of it. And you might not fully discover whatever "that" is, for years. So, in short, spend the money. Sell a limb (a leg would be advised) if that's where your muse leads, but get the Strandberg - or, alternatively, seek out an appropriate independent builder - which McLaughlin may have even done. I've no way to visually discern these things from a distance. Great video. New Subscriber and the Bell has been rung.
