Tony bringin a NJPW star to wrestle Cassidy is targeting such a small niche. Im sure 98% of average AEW viewers have no clue who Shibata is. The All-atlantic title is all over the place and feels so insignificant. Tony should have built up the title like a cross promotional championship. Before introducing it, we should have gotten video packages of what it represents and why its super unique because its a great concept but not delivered properly.

OK can definitely deliver, but I think I get what your saying: two titan technical professional wrestlers in a duel. I do though think that there could be crazy synergy between OK and Shibata. OK brings the comedy, Shibata is the perfect straight man. Shibata is a man of very few words because he lets his skills and pedigree do the talking, OK is also a man of few words, it’s just that talking takes too much effort. Honestly I saw the contract signing to be a sign of what will come. Shibata points at the gold belt with destined determination, OK responds by gesturing “just sign the contract”, I really hope for OK to really showcase Shibata’s intensity through his humor. AEW is the perfect platform for both these guys to work off of eachother and really be themselves. I really hope this turns out to be a real wrestlers wrestling match!!!

I honestly wouldn't be shocked at all if Shibata takes that title from Orange Cassidy tomorrow night, but it would certainly be welcome especially if that means we'll get to see him in AEW more. He really is something else to be wrestling again after suffering a subdural hematoma that forced him to retire 5 years ago and as a big fan of his, I'm glad to even see him appear in the US on national television. I wish Tony would put more effort in making sure everyone has a better idea of who he is though since most of the fanbase is casual, but nonetheless, it's easy to tell that he's popular just by looking at a lot of comment sections and I'm sure the crowd will be hot for their match on Rampage and that more on a grander scale will realize just how good Shibata really is.
