We bought two Alpha LTE tracking collars for two Chow chows for safety as youngest one is a runner and in training still. We tried another brand {Tractive} and that company your spending way more on the subscription like almost $100 more a year per dog for premium and the tracker is not as good of quality as Garmin. So for us the Gamin subscription is really no big deal and its $69.99 a year in Canada per dog and Garmin has better support and makes a higher quality tracker. I do understand what people are saying regarding the subscription price but really its not a real bad hit compared to tractive now that's completely over priced and really bad customer service all in email. We got a refund after 2 weeks and sent everything back and moved to Garmin as I found this Alpha Lite tracker by them. For our peace of mind and the chows safety its defiantly worth it even with paying a few hundred more for each tracker still worth it with Garmin as the quality is the best and we trust Garmin fully. So my point is at least Garmin is not sticking it to people with the subscription it could defiantly be worse like it is at other companies. And great video as it was one of the videos to help us make up our mind.

@@SurvivalHunting thanks! yeah it’s been great! Even in spots where my phone has touchy signal, the LTE collar has kept going

Thanks for the review. I think this collar is ideal as a back up collar for my TT15/25 but the price point for the collar and the subscription is just too high and not very appealing for what it is. Just my opinion but I think $200 for the collar and $25 for the subscription is more appropriate. I have talked to a couple Garmin dealers and they talked me out of trying it because of it's price point.

@@CatahoulaTwoStep I wouldn’t be mad if it was cheaper, either. It’s saved my butt a few times now at this point and I plan to buy another one for this pup once he starts to run the woods as well. I do wish there was no subscription in general though, too.

do you run multiple tracking collars on each dog?
@Warplane_KennelsАй бұрын
@@SurvivalHunting I do. After dropping this video I realized I can add my LTE collar to the same strap as my T20 collar. So I run them together, sometimes pending on the area I’ll run the T20+LTE on one strap and a TT25 on a separate strap

Well hang on a sec there. "Depending on where you are going or where you are at, maybe you don't have a signal..." If you don't have a cell signal then this collar is useless. I've been to plenty of places that either have no signal or not a strong enough signal. I mean, any place with varied topography (e.g. California, Washington, Oregon) will easily have problems with this type of collar. Even in parts of Texas there is poor signal in some places. Does Garmin state who the carrier is? This LTE only technology would make me very nervous. It would make far more sense to also have a VHF backup and it should just be all in one unit. Maybe these are for hunting in more urban environments?? Also, truth be told, you don't really need a map. You need to know direction, speed, distance. You could always just use something else for a map.

@@markeissler good points! I’m not sure who the carrier is, no. I’ve used every night I’ve been out since this video with no issues; I do use it in conjunction with my VHF collar (T20) I can see direction and distance on my Garmin watch, for my application and the way I use the collar/hunt I absolutely like to have a map, knowing what terrain the dog is in (corn field or timber) is helpful for me to be certain of. Your results and experience may vary of course pending on your use, location and expectations. Thanks for watching and thanks for bringing up some good points. What do you use dollars for?

Thanks for making the video. Looking at the t20 and tt25. I like beep capability but don’t necessarily need prongs anymore. We’ll see.

@@markeissler thanks for watching! And yep, a lot of the times I will run the T20 with a cheapo Amazon beep/shock/vibrate collar that has a 1000yd range. I have a TT25, but on nights I hunt in comps having the T20+a separate system I can leave the handheld behind in is very useful.
