The All New "Ocean Reef Vesper Visor Light" {[In Depth Review]}

Great light! Been using it pretty much every day guiding caves, wrecks and reefs for over 2 months in a Neptune 3 and Space Extender and works great in caves and at night, daytime forget it but it's a very useful tool when you're on the surface and you want the boat captain to spot you from a pretty far distance fast! One thing I found is to make sure the face seal crease, light groove, light's front and inside glass of the FFM are clean and DRY before installing and if water enters the mask, dry them all again before next dive or else the light will shift on the sides and sometimes pop off. Make sure the top straps are well adjusted too. Be super careful when removing the mask on the water or on the boat, the light sometimes falls off, I myself had a few scare$$$... Another great Ocean Reef product!

Looks like a great little light. I've got a slight problem and maybe you can help. Just bought the space extender. First time in the pool yesterday I can not stop the mask from leaking air out where my temples are. I have tried all the recommended strap tightening procedures and even some not recommended and nothing. When I turn face up on the water it stops. I'm assuming it's a fit issue but not sure where to go from here. I know it's positive pressure and that's why I get a constant stream of bubbles escaping around my temples but not really sure how that works with these.

Hello John Montgomery, sorry to hear you are having trouble with the mask not sealing properly. First, let us address the positive pressure issue. The Ocean Reef line of mask are demand valve systems, not positive pressure, at least not until the upper sides of the mask are breeched, making them positive pressure. Second, I believe this can be remedied by trying a smaller seal. Ocean Reef has a Small/Medium and a Medium/Large. A simple switch out may solve the problem.

Could this be worn with the head band just above a standard ( not ffm) scuba mask ? I know it is primarily designed for the full face mask.

They advise not to use it outside their ffm since prolonged exposure to salt water will damage the charging port.

Hello Steven Wood, as Scooba Steve stated, its really not designed for that. However, if you ever had to get rid of the mask underwater and switch back to a standard mask, you could retrieve the Vesper light from the visor, you could use it while making your way to the surface. Just make sure you clean the light thoroughly afterwards.
