The all revised 2019 Mercedes Benz AMG C63 S - Review

It's time to review the 2019 Mercedes Benz C63 S AMG. This revised new version, let's call it the Series 2, features a new 9 speed gearbox and still manages to catapult from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. It comes equipped with its ever famous, bi-turbo (twin turbo) 4.0L V8 engine that puts out a monstrous 700nm of torque and 510 horsepower. This 2 door coupe is sensational to drive, it could be used as your daily commuter, weekend exotic car or even as your old school muscle car, but more so modern cool in some aspect. Well sit back and listen to this V8 roar, bark or whatever you would call it through its quad piped exhaust. One thing that I can promise you, is that it really is intoxicating and you will love it!

What was your experience like with exhaust pops and crackles? Lot of face-lift owners are reporting that pops and crackles have been dialed back (extensively) compared to initial press cars doing the rounds. Owners from U.S, UK and AU are reporting the same issue on MB forums. I am expecting delivery early Sept and the exhaust pops and crackles was 1 of the main reasons I decided to go ahead with the purchase. From memory 2017 pre-facelift had the same issue which was eventually rectified with a firmware update so I am hopeful by the time I take delivery, MB will have this sorted.... mbworld.org/forums/c63-c63s-amg/704783-pops-crackles.html

I have one. It sounds nothing like the car in this video or any of the press cars on KZbin. MBZ neutered the exhaust for its production cars. Mine has zero pops and bangs. Zero. Incredibly unethical behavior by MBZ.

Oh cool. I’m the 1000th. Viewer. Those bi-turbo AMG engines are a work of art. This car also has active engine mounts. When cornering the engine, being the cars heaviest component acts like an anchor & pulls the front end down & outwards so the active engine mounts pump oil into one side to help level the engine therefore keeping the car more stable. Those vertical grille strut design is called Pan Americana.

In two minds. Love the interior, miss the NA 6.2l V8 sound, the bi turbo is not as sweet to the ears. Also prefer the older body shape 2010-2014. Drop new interior and dash tech into older body shape tweak the 6.2 to deliver same specs (easy done) everything getting two rounded off these days with cars. 6.2L V8 NA will have. Along Ed life than the bi turbo. A couple on care sales right now with 200k on the odometer. I cannot see the high strung 4 litre bi turbo doing those kind of kms. All beautiful cars. Nothing beats the sound of the 6.2 though.

Plus on the steering wheel the left side buttons are configurable. Also they has to tone down on the crackles and pops for the 19 model year due to people abusing it and making quiet neighborhoods miserable by hitting hard downshifts and sounding like gunfire. Which is unfortunate because that was so fun.

I’ve owned most of the super cars and now have a Mercedes SL 55 AMG with 500 hp. Where can you use it properly though other than race track days? I can remember long distance driving where I have averaged over 90 mph. You can’t do that now without getting banned! I now have a fast offshore boat and use it on open water where there are no speed limits other than the conditions and your own bottle!

Then, when the road clears, I can give in to temptation... :) It's a truly fantastic car, love the engine, steering and gearbox in particular.

John Harris i could only afford the e class, the s63 is the beall & endall of class & safety. I did test drive it but not enough coin to buy as well as running my super sadan, its no sprintcar but 900hp on a dirt race track. You soon learn the danger of speed, & i do hope your right about the edited part. Its 12 years since i seen that poor kid, sorry i just can't forget it

theres a lot of marketing spin. it isnt much different to the pre facelift other than interior and exterior. the throttle response is near identical .same engine and just a bit of a softer ride
