You can’t have a non compete in a hiring contract anymore. Also, even if they did it would have to been negotiated when funky first started and he obviously wouldn’t have signed it

At that level a non-compete clause usually involves paying people out while they aren't competing (Golden parachute). If they haggled over health benefits they couldn't afford a non-compete.

I disagree about Armon. At first, I thought he would be great on the show, but he revealed himself to know nothing except female rap. He couldn't have a conversation about anything else. He is very limited and chose not to . He's not intellectually curious . And then when he revealed his TRUMP supporting behavior, and then the roast there was nothing more to watch. Although funky did compete that did not stop Armon from being great. Armon needs to get out of his own way.He is not a victim. He made those choices.

I think Funky got out just in time, because regardless of him taking his audience we are not mad at him or associate him with the roast. I feel like we blame Claudia and Armon because how did Armon get all of that information. Also if they knew that Al was already doing things behind the scenes then they intentionally pushed him to complain more and he probably felt ganged up on. Not saying Al was right but I think it was unavoidable especially if there was already tension there.

TEAGif was just filler for FOX. If the show was a money maker, FOX would have fought to keep the staff happy and secured longer term contracts. Funky leaving put dent in viewership, which gave FOX to hasten the demise. Watched Funky show since his departure from the TEAgif, and lately his shows are just sloppy, unprofessional.

Right! Claudia could’ve used a portion of her Tubi movie money and/or Tea GIF and Al from one of his 150 jobs to pay the extra $250 to keep Funky.

That’s an additional $60k a year. Why is he worthy of a raise and they aren’t??? Why should he be paid more than Claudia and she created the show? Giving Funky an extra $250 per episode while everyone else keeps their same rate would’ve just been a band-aide until the next time he reviews his contract. Then he would’ve demanded another raise. Also, if Al was already feeling some type of way about Claudia “leveling up”, imaging Funky getting a raise and he don’t. It just would’ve caused more chaos and confusion. There was no way around it and $250 certainly wouldn’t have fixed the issues.

I think that funky wanted more money for the extra shows and the new contract... I always felt like something about the contract was the problem. Maybe it was a non compete clause... al and claudia signed their contracts at a different time than funky? That's a weird thing when you really think about it. Saying he knew he was being messy is just another way of saying he tried to sabotage the show. Funky leaving, already put a huge dent in viewership but then airing his show at the same time (and never stopping) was something else. It was spiteful. So while Armon deserves the repremanding, there is still something that speaks to someone character that will try to tank a show that only helped in further exposure of your brand.

Thank you for this comment Contessa. To add to your point of view, I felt as though it was only after things became messy with him and Claudia he decided to be messy and have a show at the same time. It may not have necessarily started that way. So possibly when he spoke with Armon, it was all good until Claudia started being shady. Because I'm not sure of the timelines though, I can only assume.
