1:19 "People know what they get into when they do interviews, they hear the questions, there are ways around it if you don't wanna say certain things" 2:58 Feds vs cops, police don't do much they just gather information 4:05 Moved around Detroit with his mom 5:00 "When you have siblings, we all do our thing, mom is always working" 5:57 School was fire when he was young, winning spelling bees and such, then eventually turned to the streets 7:22 Thinking you need material things vs making better choices for yourself altogether 9:09 Took him a little time to think he could rap, but listened to all the classics from a young age 10:05 In and out of juvie 10:36 Started to take music seriously when he tagged along with his friends to the studio, his boys told him to try 11:01 Soon as he started rappin', he got locked up 11:54 Got locked up for alleged home invasion, someone snitched 12:37 Was on parole/house arrest 13:02 JR cried while filling out job applications: "There's no way I'm doing this lame *ss job! Rather go back to jail" 13:43 "I'd be back in jail before I do some sh*t like that" 15:40 "Scamming fell into my lap" used the money for his music, went to jail for that too 16:20 His PO really liked him and his music 16:51 His PO noticed that his music was going crazy so she fought for him to come home 17:55 Did a year and half for the home invasion case 18:08 "My first Judge was a hoe" 18:42 The mean judge told him he was going back to jail, no question 18:50 Blind draw, to get a new judge coz the initial one was the worst, good thing he did, JR ended up with only 90 days probation 19:29 Judge Groner was not playing, so JR was like "Get me outta here!" 20:31 When you have some money you can have a "bearable" jail time 21:00 Being indigent in jail is like dying in there, that's when jail is a real dark time 22:20 If you got your things in order you can get cool things in jail 22:53 Fake dr*gs in jail is a huge thing 24:41 Addicted to weed, not trying to get addicted to anything else 26:36 People around him really realizing how talented he is 27:40 His friend Poody was instrumental to JR getting a good situation with Empire 29:18 At that point he was on parole AND probation, couldn't fly anywhere so he signed his contract via email 29:46 When JR got his check after he signed, that was lit, he was super happy 30:25 The Band Gang crew was kinda the first one getting on Empire 31:46 This is JR's first interview since he got sh*t 33:50 Some dudes think it's easy to rap and go up in this viral era + Buy fake plays, fake likes instead of building a solid fanbase 35:21 JR is cold lol 35:40 "Never look at what the next guy is doing you're doing a disservice to yourself" 39:10 Growing as an artist and make your content reflects what you're going through 41:50 Adam: "Are we getting close to the sho*ting incident?" 42:12 JR describes what went down when he got sh*t in September 43:42 "I was outside playing, being care free at the red light, didn't know where he got sh*t on his body initially 44:56 JR tried to get out the car 45:46 JR exited the car, didn't realize he was sh*t in the head 46:27 Whoever was after JR wanted to finish the job for sure 46:55 Right before it happened, JR was taking his good ol'time, the shooters were prolly thinking like "hurry up" 47:10 Had the shooter tried to rob him as well, it would have been a different night 47:29 Dudes w g*ns think that's all it takes to get someone, like they can't get smoked coz they have a g*n 48:15 JR could hear the blood bubbling in his ears after he got sh*t 48:50 JR's friend saw his face blown up, a bunch of people got sh*t at that scene 49:46 Cops wouldn't let JR go to the hospital, ambulance never came, JR was just standing there bleeding 51:12 JR was in the back of the cop car bleeding, face dangling, JR was incoherent trying to communicate + Not getting comfortable so he doesn't pass out and away 57:11 JR knew he was gonna be ok 57:37 Waking up from surgery was absolutely horrible 58:02 Everyone on IG thought he was gone 1:01:12 JR was at the hospital for like 5 days or so 1:01:50 Had to learn how to breath before he could even think about rapping again 1:02:18 His baby mama really helped him during the recovery process 1:02:47 Didn't want to do a "Through The Wire" Kanye type of song after the accident, but did it anyway 1:04:51 Adam says he felt invincible after getting jumped a couple times 1:05:56 JR says he will share but not gonna dwell on it though 1:07:00 Getting sh*t was terrible but also, just something that happened: "You still gotta live life" 1:09:19 Announces new project 1:09:22 The rise of Detroit rap is a great thing to be a part of 1:11:06 "Be careful out there, someone can pull up and sh**t you"

Crazy. I got shot in the head December 13 2020. I had three holes in my head and walked out the hospital 4 hours later…. All I was thinking is “I’m not fina die”, turned on Anita Baker, fired up a cigarette and made it to Grady Hospital (Atlanta). THANK YOU GOD!
