Excellent episode. Ameziane is very wise. A lot of this comes down to the male gaze vs the female gaze. A lot of what men think women find attractive comes from what they personally think is attractive in a man, whereas women probably don’t even find that attractive. I personally find really hench guys a turn off but my male friends desire to have that look. Interesting topic this week 👏🏻

this may be an unpopular opinion, but the whole thing of "alpha male" in and of itself is just unrealistic. alpha, beta, omega... these are all terms related to wolves, right? so essentially hanging up these ideals of being more "masculine" by projecting values that you typically see of fictional men in media, it just doesn't really make sense? idk. this is just how i see it anyways, as someone who reads a lot there's def a certain archetype surrounding men who are alphas, which are typically those who have abilities to turn to wolves, and i think that's where this whole thing started to gain traction. but yeah i def think as someone else said in the comments it's more about the male and female gaze and stretches out into gender roles too. but yeah, really interesting topic regardless and i hope to see more :)

I was watching the "what gives men the ick"" vid before this one and i think hassan said its not wrong to call women females, the problem is not us being called females ygm its that when men are speaking about men and women, they'll be like "men and females", and its like..why not just say women? so it can be used in a degrading way ESPECIALLY in rap. Like imagine how odd it would be if we started calling men males, it would sound like we were talking about some scientific species and linguistically speaking, the word female is an adjective so calling us female is just weird in a context that isnt like filling a form or suttin

women call men males too. i've seen it so many times so i'm confused as to why you think it's not a thing. even i call men males sometimes and i'm a girl. also in sociological/psychological studies, the terms 'male' and 'female' are always used. for example, it will say something like 'the sample was made up of 10 males and 10 females'.

I think Alpha is when someone is assertive, a provider, a protector, a leader, intelligent, strong/direct communicator, problem solver, (historically physically strong, whether that applies now I’m not too sure), brave, determined, controlled, powerful, confident, disciplined and results oriented. To be an alpha, you’d have these qualities. People would naturally look up to you and subsequently respect you. Also, as an alpha, you DO NOT need to claim you are an alpha in every other sentence 🤮, you just bring the alpha energy to a room without saying and everyone recognises and acknowledges it. I also don’t think that guys who aren’t alpha are all beta, there has to be an in between as not everyone can categorically fit into one or the other. Recently discovered you guys via tiktok and loving the podcasts. I can’t believe you’ve been around for 2 years almost and haven’t come across your content earlier 😭 You guys definitely deserve to have way more followers than you currently do! It is so wonderful seeing two young Muslim men working on social media platforms in such a positive manner. You’ve struck a perfect balance between humour and substance in your episodes.
