This is one that I've always remembered ever since '90s page ads for Dark Horse titles. Yet I've still never gotten around to reading it. The amount of material spinning off from Hellboy's self-named series is seemingly boggling enough, so I just put this out of mind. Now you can bring it home for me, my friend Darksyde. Hah, it's even quirkier than I might have anticipated. Those random utterances by characters, such as the dialogue about “cremating the most intelligent for national security” is a Mike Mignola writing near-trademark that he's inserted into Hellboy. 'Gung' and that name was first revealed in the panel immediately after Screw-On Head fits into his body, with a sound effect of “Kung”. Hmm. In this story, Mignola's art style is also reminding me of Matt Crotts' art to a degree, I'm sure because of the depictions of the Middle Eastern settings. Shadow-heavy, much like Kelley Jones' now-signature style too. Hahaha, this is goofy-silly-funny fun. A joke one-off, as you say, more like Mignola writing to himself or for himself, to get something “out of his system” or out of the back of his mind. Enjoyable, and suits future re-reading. Standout, characteristic Mignola. Unique weirdness, and I thank you for finally bringing it to my attention, Marinus. Keep your head on tight, and have a great day!

Really? I have never heard it, so this was supsrise for me :). He did alot back in the day.. Will do, Mike!😎. That line threw me off. I thought: wtffff!?😂 Gung-ho? Kung-fu? Ghengis Gung? 🤣🤣. Mmmm now that you've mention it. Matt loves those ancient places and stories. And he has also a different styles of art. Indeed. Kelly Jones also has the heavy black panels going on + shadows. Similair but very different styles. 🤩 I really liked it ,athough i had mixed feelings in the beginning. It's so weird, especially the ending.😮 It was quirky, weird, over the top, fun story. This is one of my favorite book from Mignola. I honetly it is like a masterpice. My own is so old that is all failing a part. I just need to buy one new like this one yours. Did saw the aartist Edition of this book? Man, is a must have too. Great review brother, just keep it up.
