I actually like how Ben dies in this film. Sure it's a bit clunky but what i like about it is that Ben isn't a bystander that just gets shot, he actively tries to help and take the gun off the robber (who apparently was meant to be revealed as Cleatus Cassidy later down the line) which shows that when he gave 'responsibility' talk to Peter it wasn't empty words but he actually lives by it.

8:38 - Regarding 3CFilms' question about how it's possible that no other scientist has gotten bit by one of the spiders and gotten spiderman powers: In "The Amazing Spider-Man 2", Peter's dad (Richard Parker) reveals he fused HIS OWN DNA with the spiders' DNA. Which makes it so that only someone from Richard Parker's bloodline can be affected by the spiders' bites/venom. In other words, no one else can be Spider-Man except Peter. A concept which some fans don't appreciate because it contradicts the common notion that "anyone can be Spider-Man / anyone can wear the mask", which is established in many Spider-Man adaptations, including "Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse".

@thebatman.3 жыл бұрын
This is my favorite movie of all time. Nostalgia is certainly part of the reason for that, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to appreciate it on it’s own merits. Aunt May and Uncle Ben feel like real people, and actually remind me alot of my own parents. The trope of “girlfriend’s dad not liking boyfriend” was blended seamlessly with the “police hunt vigilante” angle. Gwen is the best on-screen Spidey love interest, and it’s awesome how she contributed to the plot. I don’t know much about cinematography, but I can tell it’s unique, and more similar to a smaller film rather than a big-budget action movie. I love Peter is responsible for creating the Lizard, and how he becomes Spider-Man out of vengeance- only to accept his true responsibility after the bridge fight. And of course, no character has ever resonated with me more than this Peter. His personality, his temperament, the nobility that was hidden beneath layers of negative feelings. Even his style, it influenced my own when I was young and still kind of does today. In fact, regarding appearance, one of my proudest moments was when a girl I had a crush on told me I looked like Andrew Garfield 😅 I’m not blind to the flaws, like the Lizard being underdeveloped or the “missing parents” thing (which I hate), but even they work in the context of the movie. So yeah, I have a really personal connection to this movie and I can’t even express how excited I am for No Way Home 🤟

I absolutely love the first Amazing Spider-Man movie. It's honestly my favorite of any of the Spider-Man movies that've been released so far. And it's the strength of the characters from this movie that make me like Amazing Spider-Man 2 as much as I do (i.e., even though I recognize the script and villains are a bit of a mess, it's still my sixth favorite Spider-Man movie overall, if we're counting Into the Spider-verse).
@Nicholas_Chen_3 жыл бұрын
Rewatched it yesterday and honestly as a whole this film isn't my cup of tea, but Andrew Garfield IS MY SPIDER-MAN. This guy made the film. You can tell TASM is made in a post-The Dark Knight era and that dark and gritty spin doesn't work for Spidey for me, has a very melancholic feel, especially compared to the epic, heroic and almost operatic Spider-Man 2002 and the more vibrant sequel TASM2, and the kid-friendly Tom Holland films (which I also don't like), but honestly, as a film, it is good. Andrew Garfield is definitely the heart and soul of the film, I empathize most with this 'cool' 'edgy' Spider-Man because he is a sassy, douchey, cool but lonely guy that has a lot of problems like anger and abandonment issues. I love how he is obsessed with his parents' disappearance, it gives him bit of a spy-like edge, and he at times are really dark and the whole motivation for him to become Spider-Man was out of vengeance, that he slowly figures out through helping people he could become a better person, almost like a self-redemption! That is a very interesting spin on the character, that sassiness have thrown a lot of people off but it works so well for me. Also Gwen Stacy is the best live-action Spider-Man love interest, period. The colour-grading is muted but the cinematography is great, I feel if they colour correct it it would be much easier to look at. The soundtrack is very typically James Horner, you can hear Aliens, Star Trek and Avatar, RIP.

my advice on how this movie could of been better 1. Set the movie in college since Andrew was like 20 something. 2. If I was the director of this film, I would have made these rewrites to the script: 1. Reshoot the scene where Spider-Man's harassing the car thief and have it be Uncle Ben's killer. He reveals himself to him, how the man he killed was his own family, and so on. Spider-Man almost finishes him in rage, but can't bring himself to. The police arrive, prompting him to flee and they take the killer in. 2. Change up Lizard and even Ratha's motivations; in the film, Lizard kind of just gives up on him and decides he wants to turn the whole city into lizards. Give that motive to Ratha; once he sees what the serum is capable of, how profitable it can be as a military weapon, he decides to go through with testing it on war veterans. Lizard can't let that happen, and in the sewer scene following the high school fight, Lizard explains it all to Peter, and he agrees to team with him to stop Ratha. That would not only make Ratha more relevant to the plot than what we got in the finished film, but it would also give Lizard more significance as a character as he's not just a villain, he's an anti-hero, only turning himself into Lizard so he can go after the real villain of the story. 3. With that said, change Ratha's character into an actual villain from the comics; maybe Alistair Smythe? And no, I wouldn't have B.J. Novak portray him, I would probably have Cillian Murphy play him. Forget his appearance in the sequel, I also have things to change up for that movie.

I am loving your reviews on all of the Spiderman movies and I loved the Amazing Spiderman movie because I was around 9 or 10 or 12 and I felt Andrew Garfield did a a excellent job as Peter Parker/Spiderman, While I did enjoyed it, I still do at 17 years old now. But still the way SONY designed the Lizard was awful because he just looks bleh. Over all Spiderman is my childhood. Thank you Chris.

His father made it to where the spiders could only give spider powers to someone with his dna. I don’t think he did anything to Peter, I think he just had it to where the spiders don’t work on any one without Parker dna

I think that Andrew's movies are criminally underrated, the man could have enjoyed these movies if it weren't for Sony interfering with everything, especially the movie that Chris will cover next.

One of my favorite scenes from the Andrew Garfield Spiderman series is when Peter is listening to the voice-mail message uncle Ben left.

When I first heard about this movie, like most I was annoyed they replace Tobey, so it took me a while to even watch it. Once I got to watch it, it easily became my favorite version of Spider-Man. I don’t care about the hate, it’s IMO the best

Chris, Mr. 3C I appreciate you pointing out the spider like crawling Andrew does when fighting the lizard, I’ve never heard anyone else make that connection… maybe bc it was very obvious but still… great vid bro! I’m watching all of them before I see NWH on the sixteenth at 3 PM!!!

Before no way home this was my second favorite Spider-Man movie. Only beaten by into the spider verse. This movie captured the character of Spider-Man perfectly and showed consequences to peter’s selfish actions. And I haven’t even mentioned Andrew Garfield’s amazing acting. I like how it showed the darker side of Peter as well. At first he was just looking for vengeance but after the bridge scene, that’s when he really became Spider-Man.

I really love this movie! Yes it has its flaws, but it was really enjoyable. I love the lizard, and deserved a more scenes of him. And the chemistry between characters was great!

Andrew got done dirty. Sony did him dirty. Tbh I would say he's the best actor out of all the actors that have played spiderman however, Tobey Maguire spider man will also be the best spiderman forever.

The Amazing Spiderman was a huge success if you ask me. Brought in $757 mil worldwide 5 yrs after Tobey’s insanely popular franchise… and was released in one of the BIGGEST summer movie seasons EVER. Avengers was just wrappin up its tear and The Dark Knight Rises was comin out a couple of weeks after TASM’s release. 72% on rotten tomatoes scoring much better than Raimi’s third movie. Just the fact that it did so well in a jam packed SUPER summer movie season still to this day speaks volumes. Real good movie

If these movies weren’t so different from each other i don’t think the spider verse concept for NWH would work as good , gotta appreciate the little things from each franchise

The criticism of the origin story was explained in the sequel, his father used his own DNA in the experiment so even if anyone else got bitten, only peter would get powers from it

A film that’s over-hated, I’m a BIG fan of the Raimi Spider-Man films but I appreciate this attempted reboot. It might not be perfect due to Sony not knowing what to do with this film (especially when we get to the sequel) but the parts that work are REALLY damn good but the bad parts are just whatever, if they sticked to a certain idea then it wouldn’t be as hated like certain films that have a trouble finding their identity like for example Fant4stic.

i've been waiting for this video!! not enough people talk about Andrew and everyone is always riding Tobey hype. Andrew never did get the recognition he deserves and this was no doubt the best live-action spider-man story.
