Burning books was a common occurrence in any society or group that wished to censor ideas. So, yes, Nazis did so. However, so did Christians, Muslims, anti-fascists, fascists. In older times, the conquerors over another civilization would usually destroy whatever history they had as to completely absorb the other group.
