I just went with a Kobo Clara BW instead. I love how Kobo encourage the user to make their own repairs rather than disposing of the device and the .epub support is a plus too.

That is a superior device to the Kindle (basic) anyway. It has the amber light for nighttime reading, and also a much better Kobo cover. Enjoy your Kobo BW.

I ordered the Kindle basic in Matcha and the Kindle Paperwhite SE in metallic Jade. Luckily I ordered on the first day of the black Friday week and received both of them quickly, before they were sold out. I love both of them and they work perfectly and I'm happy with both!!

Love my kobo libra colour! I saw the writing on the wall when Amazon made it so you can’t download books with the 12th gen kindles to the computer. Since I download any books I purchase that was a huge deterrent. Ordered a kobo instead and couldn’t be happier. I still have an 11th gen paperwhite that I’ll use with books I can’t get on kobo but so far no issues. Amazon has been really dropping the ball so to speak in many ways and I really hope that kobo can take advantage of it and get more market share.

I ordered the Paperweight Signature addition in Metallic Jade during Black Friday as a Christmas gift. It said at the time (and still does) that it will be delivered between December 7-11th. Let’s hope it doesn’t get delayed!

Most models are available for delivery within 1-2 weeks in the UK. The coloured bodies 4-6 weeks, and colorsoft 2-3 months.

It's good for Amazon that they have this kind of demand, but with their stock and QC issues (and I'm speaking of the yellow band problem with the Colorsoft there) they're really leaving room for Kobo to swoop in.

In the US the basic matcha kindle is only a couple of weeks out. I ordered one during cyber Monday and the shipping is between Dec 12-16. Not a big delay.

Definitely saw this during cyber Monday. Uk and spain amazon with 3/4 months delay on the kindle matcha. But yesterday i managed to buy it and it’s arriving in January. So i guess they managed to keep up with the sales. I also ordered a signature in Jade for my hubby and i am usually a Kobo girl. I own a color kobo and gave my sister my old sage. But i decided to go for the kindle because of the exclusive books and it will be my first kindle ever. I think amazon nailed it with the green colors this time and honestly more and more people are looking for fun different devices/colors etc. So points for Amazon on this.

UK here Dec 3rd, it might be possible to get the colour you want by selecting with ads/without ads, and then getting ads removed later.

Wow. I was about to disagree with you. I'm in the UK and checked the Amazon Site and it definitely says "ships in 3-6 months!" Fortunately, I bought my wonderful Matcha Green Basic, (along with an OEM case) when the first Black Friday offers appeared and was able to pick it up on the same day from a High St Store. If you're in the UK, it still _appears_ to be available from Argos/Curry's!

In the Netherlands also the non black ones are all 3-6 months delivery. I'm glad I already got the Matcha when it came out. Getting a refurbished paperwhite today.

I’m glad that I ordered my Kindle Paperwhite Signature edition (metallic jade) back when it was first announced. It arrived in two days but had pixel issues. I returned it and received the replacement two days later. I just checked Amazon and that model is shipping in 3 to 6 months in the U.S. Avid Kindle fans will probably be willing to wait that long but people who wanted to get or give an e-reader for Christmas, or who aren’t fully committed to the Kindle ecosystem, or who are looking for their first e-reader are not going to wait. Kobo, etc. are going to be so happy just like criminals were when Prohibition came into effect in the U.S.. Those at Amazon or Foxconn who are responsible for predicting demand or in charge of quality control are going to be very nervous about their jobs.

I ordered a reconditioned denim blue basic model kindle and even that says no delivery until halfway through January. I already had purchased the matcha green one and the Signature Paperwhite and got them with no trouble. They are beautiful and I love them. But I feel bad for those folks who were disappointed in theirs or can’t get them at all.
