HE SPEAKS THE TRUTH!! We got stuck at a hotel in a small town . At the end of the day, i locked the bars to the far left, and as I pulled the key out in the lock position , somehow the ignition switch pulled up enough to misalign the tumblers. I was stuck 5 hours from home and had to keep asking around until I found someone in the small town (bike repair shop) that had this tool. I tried to do it with a screwdriver, but it didnt work for me. Cost 150 bucks to have the guy come out and realign everything and then reinsert the ignition switch and unlock my bars on the road glide. Came home and ordered the 12 dollar tool. Wont make this mistake again. Ive only had the bike for a month, and wont find myself in that position again!

Very handy tool!!! I've had it happen several times. It happened when I was at Biketober Feast when we had that meetup. I finally got the ignition to engage and just pulled my main fuse all the way home until I could take the ignition out and re-align. Definitely a must for your tool kit!!!

Just came here to say a narrow, thin flat screwdriver is possible to fix this maddening issue because I just did it, after some effort. I had taken that ignition switch off to run a couple USB cables under the dash panel on my 2021 FLHTK. Didn't even need to! I had no idea at the time that you cant move the wheel and at first I was freaking out when I couldn't get this thing back in and my forks were perma locked. So I did what I usually do. Looked at the shop manual and youtube videos. i ordered that $11 tool on Amazon but thought I'd try the screwdriver approach in the mean time. Shine a light down there and you'll see the slots. Turn the screwdriver back and forth and you'll hear the 3 clicks. It took awhile of me moving the plastic tumbler and the metal one underneath it around and trying and failing and then finally it worked, just like that. I have no idea what I did that last time that was any different but it worked. But I will be glad to have that tool in my bag from now on. Not gonna lie...I don't think I'm ever gonna use fork lock again. i don't trust it.

I eliminated my ignition switch a long time ago. If you want to clean it up real nice, get a push Ignition, switch that lights up same color as Your gauges

I just fixed mine that way. I picked at it, tried and failed IDK how many times. A solid half hour of trial and error, try it and see. Then finally, it just worked, and I have no idea how or why, but I finally got it right.

Yep, mine was misaligned yesterday. Took the barrel out, couldn’t get the screwdriver to the third/bottom bit. Took the barrel to my local shop, 20mins and a few brews later it was done. I reinstalled it, no issues. But yes the tool placed in after removal would’ve been the ticket.

I had to buy that same tool from Amazon a few years back when I got a little rough with my ignition and manhandled it a little too much. Those plastic parts can break easy. Had to buy the bottom tumbler and then rebuild the ignition. That little $10 tool made aligning it easy. It's now in my tool roll in my saddlebag in case anyone else needs it
