It is not true that “average men get laid off when times get tough.” The people who get laid off are those whose department, job role, product line, etc. are deemed as suitable for offshoring, outsourcing, outright elimination, or strategic pause. One of the problems black people have is , for the longest time, they BELIEVED IN THE HUSTLE. They believed the hustle was better than the 40 hour a week job. ( THEY WERE WRONG) The hustle worked for a minuscule few, the majority needed to work. Get that government pension and relax.

I work for government as well. Honestly, now that I have two retirement accounts, I almost see no purpose in saving unless it’s for a short term goal! Invest a portion of your income into a retirement account or some long term investment. That is what will work for average people! I just recently got a raise & put it all back into my second retirement account! By the end of this year I’ll be funding both retirement plans at the same time at the same amount! Then, next year I’ll probably open up a Roth. That’s 3 retirement plans! I’m trying to retire at 60 lol. Only work if I want to! 💯

The reason it appears to be "too much" is because we're not prepared to win. We didn't and don't do the hard work to prepare EARLY in life- College, advanced degrees or high value skills- so we're at the whim of corporations and their mediocre leadership decisions. That's the position the guy in this video is in and he doesn't understand why, he just feels hopeless. So instead of trying to find solutions he vents on tiktok and says the world is ending. Next thing he'll be a Communist. This is how countries end up like Venezuela and Cuba.

Bro isn’t wrong about the American dream dying. It used to be that if you could get a job earning 70-100k, then you would be able to live a middle class life with a family. That’s not the case anymore. The only question is what are you gonna do about it? Are you run and cower, or you gonna find a way to go it. I have a job now earning $230k. It’s great, but it’s not as much money as I thought it would be. Instead of complaining I’m in the process of getting more skills/training that will get me a job earning 450k-500k base in a few years. Nobody is gonna give it to you, you gotta go out and get it.

@@sjc5411 I am not saying houses are the same. The minimum wage was 3.35 then and now it was practically 15. It was harder to get a job then and interest rates were higher in the 80s. And see that is the problem right there, you have the same access to information as everyone else, you see what is going on, how can you make it seem like the younger generation is not trying hard enough when companies do not want to pay, and laws or policies are being favored for companies like BlackRock. People all over the world, are also being priced out, not just the U.S, people are not having children in places like Japan, do to not being able to afford, and the rich do not want to pay taxes. Plus, you didnt have a 2008 reccession, due to 90s politics, 2 wars, Covid and now us sending money to other countries. Its like migrants coming into this country , and belittling us for not working and not being able to reach the American Dream, when you have our govt, giving them resources, that they denied us, such as debit cards with lots of money, free health care, hotel rooms, food stamps with thousands of dollars on it, so please , be mindful when you talk about us not wanting to work hard, save and invest.

My father used to work hard as hell until he was forced to retire in 2015. He Did so much OT and bought a house, never held a second job. But by the time he retired, the house was paid off, and he had been at that job for 30 years. But even he would tell you that he would only be able to do less than half of the things he did if we were in today's economy. The young man has to realize that that hard work will always pay off. But we are living in harder times. 40hrs was supposed to be the norm to survive off of.

Facts. He caught the vapors. Life for men is a fight* particularly black boys/men. Especially if you didn't have the silver spoon of inheriting grandparents or relatives wealth in your throat, or parents who wisely invested in your future. In the late 1980's, 1990's and early 2000's the black community was told to embrace what you want, but was never actually told you must develop patience, discipline, fortitude and persistence to stay focus through life struggles as they come to achieve the outcomes you desire. Sadly, too many youth are in major debt before they're 30 years old-including student loan debt because they wanted everything now. The old saying goes like this ; "Never climb a mountain so that others can see you at the top. Rather, climb the mountain to see the world from different perspective from the knowledge and wisdom you gain from climbing the mountain". your life's path becomes clearer and choices are easier because of the experiences you endured. When you decide to stand still and complain, you never win!

Congratulations, you slipped through the cracks. The vast majority of jobs are not union jobs. Union jobs take care of their employees. If 90% of jobs were union jobs, 90% of people wouldn't be complaining. Just because a small percentage of the system is thriving, doesn't mean the entire system isn't flawed. In the 50s, 60s, & 70s most jobs were unionized, which is why most people were able to achieve the American Dream. Many of the labor unions were busted since the 80s, which is a big factor as to why wages haven't kept up with the price of living for most non-union jobs. We have to take that into consideration.

One thing Anton, based on what I hear here and how he go at black men doesn’t consider, is that it takes a lot of money to make money. In order to save money, you have to be making a lot of money or have no expenses with money coming in. That’s the key. I would say, in order to start making real money in business, you need at least in cash $55k with very few expenses to start pulling in real money. It is much harder now in general today. It’s so much to the subject matter

I always tell kids to work hard and sacrifice in your 20s (since your young, have more energy, and have less obligations) so you can be living comfortable/stable in your 30s, 40s. I've seen so many people in their 30s not prepared for adulthood because they didnt prepare in their 20s. Male siblings slept in the same room regardless of age and same for the female siblings. We lived simply, period. We didnt have ac and the heat was so low we froze in the winter. Im not saying it is not tough right now but this happens every 15 years or so. The reason it takes both man and woman has to work is because of feminism. I do think it is tougher for men than women but when young you have to hussle, fulltime job and side job. Dont buy new vehicles, eat at home, and when dating do not spend a ton of money. Save every extra penny. BTW it is not just the young suffering in this economy its EVERYONE.
