Little bit of history. While cobra wasn't really popular plane in US army due to its unstable nature , it was really respected by the soviet pilots. Alexander Pokryshkin had over 46 confirmed kills and majority of th em were in p39

God I love the Cobras. The P-400 is a beast at 2.0, the P-39N gave me my first Ace game, and the P-63A is just insane at 3.3. Give a look at the P-63s, the P-63C is amazing and the P-63A-5 is pretty much a superprop.

​@@liamboyle9199Yes, the prop efficiency of the P63 is terrible at low speeds. You will stall out very early, so you want to stay out of slow vertical fights. The P39 is like a helicopter comparatively. That said, the P63 keeps a lot more power at higher altitude than the P39. It still handles incredibly at high speeds, and has great retention. Very strong plane, just not blatantly OP like the P39.

The 37mm is infuriating. I'm not talking about the wild dispersion or the difficulty with aiming. Those issues are seemingly based on reality. No, its the fact that it hits like a 30cal. It's like playing the lottery. Nothing 99% of the time and then 1 out of 4,000 rounds hits like an atomic bomb (like that bomber you hit). The damage model for that gun is idiotic and mystifying, even for Gaijin.

P-39 in WT is known to be very strong for its BR for years. Its very fast for its BR and everything else is above average too. It can turn with almost anything if youre fast enough. Climb is good. Accelerates good. Doesnt compress that bad. Strong gun. Good energy retention. At low altitude it can perform very well. Only when at high alt does it become outmatched. And even at high altitude it can hold its own if it stays fast.

I remember the Soviet Ace P39 version with the 2 50's and 37 was incredibly good, I assume it still is as well. Losing the 4 30's was never that much of a trade-off for being slightly lighter. I always preferred the P400 with its 20mm though, I'm not good with the shotgun cannons. These planes (P400, P39 and P63) have some of my favourite cockpits though, I love the overall shape.

it's funny when people talk about something incredible, something forgotten but suddenly very good when you've been flying in sim battles for 6 years and you know that p39n is just a monster, not only at rank 2 but also at rank 3 and even 4

I gotta say I played the P39 a LOT back in the day (2014-ish) and seeing it now it hits about as hard as I remember, if spottily haha. I think it's hit or miss nature really is a combination of WT admittedly very hardcore take on aircraft hitboxes, weapon penetration (especially on non essential sections, like the back of the fuselage in some planes) making the shells fly through without detonation, and the belts for the cannon just simply not being ideal. Each of those conditions alone would be fine but all three together can make you feel like you're thumping multiple rounds dead on into the enemy aircraft without a scrap of damage to it.

for those who dont know the performance difference between the p39 and p63, the p39 has an INSANE power generation at low speed, especially at low alt, quite the opposite from the p63 that suffers a lot at low speed cuz it doesnt generate as much power.

The p39 in the right hands is an absolute beast under 18k feet. The airframe has alot of natural lift when your in simulator battles. So if your a savy pilot you can use that natural lift to turn in tighter than all German fighters. This is a delicate balance though because it's extremely easy to exceed the airframes angle of attack and stall the plane. So get some practice, and you'll thank me later

The trick to this plane is that the only important skill is learning how to aim the 37. Once you get that down, it's just seal clubbing bombers and strike aircraft. And if you're really good and can aim the 37 at fighters, you're set for an ace almost every game.

You get on them, wait until the last possible second, have to flick shot which ends in a miss or maybe just one hit, and then complain that the guns aren't working. I really don't get it.

My favourite plane. Not the best to fly and very hard to hit with the 37mm, but such a cool plane! Also how did you get that skin? I’m on ps4 and the only way to get skins I can see is, u lock/buy the pre set ones or spend 698 GE to open packs (which is like gambling for a skin you want, which I hate that)? How do you get skins like that? Do you have to be on pc to get them then I could use them on PS4 or is it just on pc and I’m stuck with what the snail will let me gamble for?

I just don't find top tier appealing. There's no enjoyment in locking onto a plane and launching from 10 miles away. There aren't any fun dogfights... 10.3 is about as high as I venture :) I have done a video on the F-104 recently, it'll be on the channel somewhere.
