This is how I think history education should be, I'm serious. Just enough information for almost any person, unless you're really interested or you plan to become a historian. Without diving too deep into details and specific dates, just gives you the overall idea of what happened. This is how it needs to be.

Britain could have diverted resources and manpower to fight for America but they were more interested (quite rightly) in bashing the French. American at the time was a third world backwater of no real strategic or economic importance to Britain. Losing it was just an embarrassment not a major set back. Proof, Britain went on to become the worlds first and only superpower for many decades.

These videos are great, I know they’re simplified as by the channels name but I’ve learnt quite a bit. I can remember learning history in school but it was boring as hell, this jazz’s it up, makes it way more interesting and covers the important and less important points, which all end up going into your brain way easier. 👍

We still pay the 'Stamp tax' in the UK, we call it Stamp duty and whenever someone buys a house over a certain price they pay a % in tax towards the government. When David Cameron was Prime Minister he scrapped Stamp Duty for first time buyers in order to help them get onto the property ladder. Part of the Economic Covid relief efforts of the current Government they've frozen stamp duty all together so you don't have to pay it if you're buying a house till a later date.

Except, the part you left out was the total tax as a percentage of income, was about 1%. Or about 1/30th of what Americans pay today in their taxes, or about 1/25th of what people in late 1700's England were paying in their taxes. Don't fall for the brainwashing that is taught as US history.
