the scene from the pilot where another spy is locked in their 80s trunk. Dad checks on him, next take he walks into the kitchen with rest of the family having breakfast ..."car wont start ill have to take the metro" ... Thats the whole series in a nutshell, genius.

Actors in these series very well speak Russian, I was pleasantly surprised when heard their speech! The first show in which seriously approached to a language question.

Yep, that surprised me as well until I did a little research: The actors with the most russian lines have a russian family background or are actual russians like Costa Ronin. Lev Gorn a.k.a Arkady Ivanovich is of russian american descent and Anett Mahendru has an indian father, a russian mother, was born in Afghanistan and mainly raised in St. Petersburg and Frankfurt, so she is fluent in Russian, Hindi, Persian, German and English

***** The producers knew that Russel and Rhys wouldn't sound very convincing although Matt Rhys could probably pull it off, from his american accent you wouldn't suspect that he is actually Welsh. But they covered this up by the plot device that they are not supposed to speak russian, lest they compromise their cover. When they actually do speak russian it sounds rather akward, but not as arkward as Sean Connery speaking Japanese in Rising Sun ;-) that is bloody atrocious.

I really like the show and enjoy watching how they balance their personal relationship with spying. Despite other comments I do root for them and don't want them to die or get caught. He's such a great actor at so many levels...from getting rid of his accent to playing gay and now a Russian spy. I am impressed. You make all your characters very believable. She's also very impressive to see her soft side as a mother then wham..she will kill you in a minute. AWESOME SHOW.
