The main reason it feels that way is that it's in a lower key and guitar tuning, so Ahren is naturally singing in a lower register, changing the familiar sound you're used to. Understandable to not enjoy that to be honest, but I still like it.

I’ve loved TAA since Chasing Ghosts, so of course I was hyped for this, but I’m a bit disappointed. Everything is better except for one thing: the guitars, drums, bass, and Ahren's voice are all improved, but Joel's voice isn’t. My favorite part of this band by far is Joel, but in this redux album, his voice sounds so basic and neutral-no highs or lows. It feels like he’s screaming every word in the same tone. Even with that, this new redux is more than just a typical remaster. As a TAA fan, I can’t say I’m unhappy with it, and I hope they release new music soon so I can enjoy Joel’s voice again.

I don't think it's a matter of improving the songs. I think it's more of them giving a different feel. If anything I feel like Joe's voice feels the best. It sounds a lot different. Not in a bad way, but a different way.

@chrisherman6644 10 years can do a lot to someone's voice. It's still Joel screaming. I literally saw them live a couple months back. Still the same frontman.
