I recently purchased a vh2 because it was advertised as having a great clean and the famous channel 3 high gain channel of the vh4. The vh2 ch 1 cleans were great but ch2 was not what I hoped it would be. Tonewise, it was good but gain wise, it sounded more like a fuzz pedal than a distortion circuit. The attack for rythm guitars was not percusive and defined; it was more of slow farty sound like a fuzz. Good for solos but not for rythm chugging. Didn't work for me so I returned it.
@pumpkins62935 ай бұрын
had the same problem...mine had kt77 ....fuzzy , not defined , no clarity mids congestion...i changed for 6L6 with a tad 7025 in V1 and then more open sounding , no fuzzy at all , a lot of of clarity....was about to sell it for a vh4 .....not anymore

Yup, definitely reminds me of my old vh4....which I thought would be the "grail", but never dug at all. Your playing is great as always, but this definitely isn't my fave tone I have heard you dial in. Something about that vh4/vh2 compression and over-bigness that can't really ever be dialed out. You either love it or you don't. That said, I would like to see you demo a Herbert. Different beast!!
@mikepringle32753 жыл бұрын
I added a MXR EQ to my VH2 and now I love it. I am not sure why he mentioned the amp is not tight or articulate because it is articulate and has some of the tightest and hugh lows I have ever heard. My VH2 makes my Mesa Mark V sound thin
@SluggerStark3 жыл бұрын
@@mikepringle3275 Ya, I never found the vh4 to be loose, I agree. It would be up there with the tightest amps I have owned, which would include a mk4, mk5 and vht Pittbull Ultra-lead. And it had waaaaay more low end than any of them; actually astounding how huge they can sound. That said, it just was not for me. Probably would have been 15 years ago.

I might be coming late to the party but you have chosen the worst type of pickup for the VH2. It's older bigger brother hates active pickups. VH4 is one of those amps that had been built for a passive pickup in the range of 7-10k ohm max. The amp is so damn compressed that playing an EMG into it sounds like a beehive.

That's fucking loud man. My diezel vh master stays around ten o'clock. Much past that and drummer like he's mmiming, looks like he's playing, but no sound can be heard. Almost all venues also have limits what you can and cant do. Even if they dont, i think it's unprofessional to be too loud.
