Nice visualization of Ice Cube. But you forgot to include the part that I helped to deploy, the surface detector tanks known as IceTop. Two tanks per string except for the inner high density part where there is only 1 tank per string. I assembled the tanks in Winchester, VA. Cleaned them up by the drill-camp and deployed them in trenches right next to the top of the strings. And filled them with reverse-osmosis cleaned drill water. Each tank has about 600 gallons (almost 2300 liters) of optically clear ice and two DOMs. Are the Blender sources available for download somewhere?

Impressive! If you have the time while you're there, you should do a solid and map the berms for a 3D searchable inventory. /s I'm sure B.J. and the rest of maintenance would be grateful to know where to dig for whichever 'tiny bag of parts' that supposedly exists out there! haha
@JoeSpinstheGlobe3 жыл бұрын
Haha I'll see what I can do about that... might not actually be as hard as it sounds if there's any kind of system in place already.

Is there a water treatment system there? Is that where Jonny from California was stationed? I just applied for water treatment, hopefully they call me!

Hi Joe, As SouthPoleSkies (we know each other in real life), this video is really cool and pretty realistic. We both have spent plenty of time there to say so. If you are planning on keeping working on it, I might suggest a few corrections, and improvements to both make your model up-to-date, and more realistic. Contact me if you are interested. Cheers
@JoeSpinstheGlobe3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! I need expert review. Some things were really difficult to model due lack of pictures or the pictures that do exist have a strange perspective. I address a few issues in the caption of my explainer video, and I'm also currently working on fixing the landscape issues (wrong heights, etc).

@@JoeSpinstheGlobe I've been obsessed with the place for the last 5 years or so. I'm still trying to get down there, it's just so hard to plan for isn't it? And then coordinating those plans with actually getting the job and qualifying and getting down there and stuff.

Yeah absolutely. I'm hearing so many stories of people that had to leave other jobs they just took because they were hired at the last minute or activated as an alternate.
