I think what people fail to acknowledge is that these kind of videos take so much time and effort to create and if they don’t like it or have major critique, they are more than welcome to make their own 😂 Great job on the breakdown. I wish there were more videos as short and simple as this, as men on podcasts seem to chat a LOT. Subscribing for more! Keep up the great work. Short n sweet and really informative!

NZ kids run these moves in their back yard in tag rugby etc you see these moves in NRL a lot. Melbourne Storm has perfected the art of this move. It's simply known as "double backdoor" Two decoy front door runners and two backdoor receivers. It's optional for front runners to receive the ball if backdoor is closed.

Coming to think of it , im pretty sure The Abs and Melbourne Storm have been working together to perfect the art of these set moves I've seen videos where both coaching stuff have been spotted at each others training grounds , and give each other shout outs on social media more then the Warriors lol

Edward Kenway Warriors fan here, they do my head in every weekend lol yup Storm always have connections with the ABs. Like when McCaw was their guest speaker days before the grandfinal. Most NRL tries are scored from these very moves.

To be honest I have been a little critical of Ioane rarely passing this yr. But this Nov tour has taught him he can't do it all on his own at test level and he has adjusted and started passing. This is not surprising in such a talented young man but too his credit he has learnt and changed his approach. If he stays uninjured he may well be a true great of the game, he just turned 20yrs old!

That little no-look pass from Sopoaga to Perenara is so classy, too. Perenara didn't have to break his stride one bit.
@prof_kaos93417 жыл бұрын
Francois Badenhorst good point and if you watch Ioane at that point he is just jogging across behind. And even though his timing and the timing of the last pass are a little off Ioane makes it look easy. No substitute for speed.

Great analysis, definitely agree that Amos drifting across would have posed a more defensive threat. Look at the way Biggar comes up and immediately puts on the breaks though (1:51) - he's clearly wanting to push up fast then drift across, trusting his inside man to make a tackle rather than actually make one himself. O Williams has done the same but instead of starting his drift early he's back-pedalling, rather than committing to the blitz and drift defence. Seems to leave the 12 AND 13 channel undefended as he's pulled back so hard...let alone even talking about Amos wrapping around!
@Thedeadballarea7 жыл бұрын
spot on about williams - I'm ok with Biggar and Roberts they've made the gain line and are now buying time for the inside support. Williams and Evans however need to push up a little harder and close that door - up and in rather than up and out.

Interesting analysis, however I can't help thinking that if the Welsh set up differently then the ABs would have run a different play. If you move Amos further from the scrum a big hole appears between the scrum and back line leading to Ioane or flanker or half back to score thru there. Amos is trying to cover Ioane and shadows him as he trotts across before he accelerates into the hole and scores a beautiful try. A back may have scored but a 7 man scrum did the hard yards as they did v Scotland last week. PS great channel.
@Thedeadballarea7 жыл бұрын
perhaps, but that is ok and a good outcome, influencing the attack before it's even started.

good analysis, just wondering, would the Wales defense improve if #8 was not a part of the scrum? made it 7 on 7 and use him as an extra back? where you would put him?

@sesalalotoa26337 жыл бұрын
The defensive setup should’ve been the pendulum. Blind winger shouldn’t worry about inside runners off 10... 9 & 7 Breaky quick and have that covered, he defensive blind winger should track across the back eventually taking last man allowing the defensive 13, openside winger and fullback to all jam in leaving one man over in attack. Rule number 1, never ever get beaten on the inside, if they are to score let it be on the outside.

hiya, sorry for the slow reply - i'm using klipdraw on PC or the analysis and graphics. It's part of the analysis pro platform. Then for the overall editing and voice over i use sony vegas for video and ableton for audio. I'm intending to do a gear video - my match day analysis gear camera etc... and software and kit etc...

@@SimonBarr I think it's stretching it to say Williams obstructs him - it's a poor read by Wales and instead of swimming past Williams to meet TJ he gets tangled up and trips over - perhaps he clips his feet but I don't think it's clear obstruction?

Nice analysis, but i can't help but think that if the Welsh scrumhalf had defended more on the inside channel, NZ would have probably have tried and 8-9 in the narrow side. They seem to be masters at working very narrow spaces in the 5m channel. Supposition on my part, i guess.
@tomfaranda7 жыл бұрын
Interesting as you prove that hindsight is 20-20. Ioane could have come into the line anywhere, which is why the Wales weakside wing couldn't have swept across the field as you describe . Not bad defense; rather a brilliant attack.
@Thedeadballarea7 жыл бұрын
yes it is brilliant attack, have i indicated otherwise? On Ioane "coming into the line anywhere", but that's the point. If Amos as the blindside wing had set up wider as I indicate he would have been able to cover both directions with the added support of the cover defence on his inside should Ioane or another AB cut back on the switch - thus handling that issue it's not just about stopping the linebreak where it happened which is what you seem to have misunderstood. Is hindsight 20-20? Yes, but that's exactly what post match analysis is all about - looking at how things could maybe be done differently.

@tomjohnson11107 жыл бұрын
There was only one sure way of stopping that try and it was at the scrum. Eight against seven, all wales had to do was pressure the ABs scrum. So perenara was retrieving the ball going backwards which would've upset the timing of the whole move.
@Thedeadballarea7 жыл бұрын
agreed, the only issue is they had just given away the free kick for not taking the hit/backing out and NZ had taken the scrum, so they had to be whiter than white as Ref's were watching their front row closely.

the welsh just didnt know the all blacks set move, so it would of been difficult to set their defense to counteract it
@Thedeadballarea7 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. If they had done their pre-match analysis they would have had a decent idea of what NZ would do in this area of the pitch (not set up phases). Of course, they wouldn't know exactly what move they are going to run so you have to weigh up the options and set your defence in a way that hopefully handles all eventualities. Which is why I think Amos needed to be wider, as Halfpenny was was going into the outside channel to try and shut down DM & BB.
