How beautiful, that our Amen at Communion mirrors Mary's Yes.

That the pregnancy of Elizabeth and that of Mary are an intentional parallel is wonderful.

Love the discussion fathers. I especially loved the discussion on the problem with the “you do you” mentality.

The thought that obedience to God can make one's life's actions world-altering in a good, albeit very small, way, gives one's life a sense of meaning and relevance.

I enjoyed seeing you converse over bibles and the catechism instead peering over computer screens. I even think the flow was improved without google breaks. 👍

Hi Fr.s, can you do a talk on the biblical theology of the finding the Christ child in the temple? That one confounds me. I’d also add a request for the Presentation of the Christ child/Purification of Mary. I feel like there’s more there than meets the eye.

I also like the idea that although Mary was completely free, it was impossible that she would say no, though it seems a contradiction.

Mary's response of "How can this be ..." does imply that Mary and Joseph had taken a vow of perpetual virginity, because she could have taken it to mean "when we are living together we will then have a child ..."

Great show! Just a question - father gave a talk in Riverside, Connecticut in the U.S. recently, I watched him online. I'm a big fan of the Shroud of Turin and also of the Veil of Manopello. It could be that while the Shroud is the picture of Jesus in death, the Veil is the post-Resurrection picture of Jesus. Pope Benedict visited it in Manopello, and I love Paul Badde's book "The Face of God" (2006). What does father think about the Veil of Manopello? I consider it as equal in importance to the Shroud. Thanks!

Hello. I read that the term used by Gabriel to Mary in the greek gospel is "kexaritomene". And written as that, it only appears in that phrase of that gospel, never found in any other text in greek or anywhere like that. It Comes from "χαριτοω" (charitoo... Grace) but as It appears there for the Virgin, seems to be like a title, something the Virgin 'is by herself', not some action happened to her.. I think is interesting if It is like that, and probably a conciouse election.. Also, the word in greek for "oversadow" (Episkiasei) used latter in Luke: "the power of the most high will oversadow you" only appears again in Exodus 40:35 refering to 'the ark' when Moses can not enter the tabernacle becouse: "the claud oversadow (Episkiazen) It..." ... The same Word for the most sacred material item of the Israelites in the old covenant (The Ark) makes paralell as the new Ark for Mary the Virgin in the new covenant, an interpretation expresed by some early fathers of the church... Sorry for my english and thank you

It might also be 6 months from the New Year, Rosh Hashanah (sp?). But nice it's 6 months from the start of the pregnancy of Elizabeth.

If it weren't for sin, in the world as God planned it, her role wouldn't have involved suffering of this kind.

I suspect that Mary's "How can this be, since I do not know man?" is not so much how can God do this, since she hasn't had relations, though that question makes sense: she knows that God can do all things. I suspect that Mary is frightened about her vow of perpetual virginity, she doesn't want to give up her vow of virginity. That might be the source of her being troubled.

And when Gabriel tells her how it will happen without her losing her virginity, she is relieved of her concern, and fully consents.

Also apparently the Jewish people believe that God created the world on March 25th.
