I've also been told you can use cat litter in a pair of socks, fill one sock then put another over the top. As some other people have said cooking with propane causes large amounts of moisture, you also breathe out moisture, the device won't give you a sore throat, AC will as that forcibly drops the moisture level in the air, which leads to a dry throat, as air gets colder the air can't hold as much water vapour, hence your sore throat, this is how you dehumidify air using cooling in large buildings (I write software for ventilation systems in buildings).

You need to have a window or roof vent open just a bit while you're sleeping to let some heat out and fresh air in to lessen the condensation.

You need to control the amount of moisture in your van is the most important thing! All of your soft furnishings etc. absorb the moisture from your body, shower, cooking etc Your windows don't create condensation they just display it. keep as much moisture out of the van and ventilate it well, dry your towels etc in your garage with the doors open.

LoL! Round Cube, I just love it when Dan gets all technical. I have two tips for you... First, your Chem-loo filling up too quick. solution: Stop Eating and Drinking then you won't need to use the loo. And Secondly: Condensation on your windows. Solution: As most of the moisture is what you're both breathing out, try and not breath during the night. You'll wake up to nice and dry windows. There you go problems solved. 😉 Happy Sojourns!

Howdy Dan and Mazzy. I agree on the air vents at night. Also one thing you may not know is that when you use the stove the fire produces moister. Moister is a by product of propane. So when cooking be sure and use an air vent. I have a travel trailer and have read many things on the subject of moister in my camper and if you use a portable heater in the camper on how to ventilate the carbon monoxide out.

This was a great review. I'm sure folks will find it very helpful. I could have used one ten feet tall for in my house in Hawaii where we got 165 inches of rainfall a year. Everything was always damp. I now live where we get 15 inches a year, and it is as dry as old parchment, and I love it! Thankfully my nightmares of damp and mold have finally gone. LOL Have a great day!

Hey Dan and Mazzy, I think if you also try your air conditioning on or switching your air vent to vent air from outside and not recycling the air already inside with the fan control when de-fogging, it seems to help me.

Very interesting. Humidity prevention is essential. ;-) In the latest Hymer brochure a Hot air curtain is mentioned? It says - "Your motor home’s dashboard is also supplied with hot air when the vehicle is parked up for camping. This prevents draughts and misting of the windscreen." ?? It sounds like an electric heater run off "site power" but worth knowing if its there. :-)

Great video. The condensation is from moisture you are creating in the motor home. cooking, shower etc but you also each breath out about 150ml of moisture while you sleep. Try to keep a vent open overnight so that the moist air can be ventilated outside. Your review is great but fresh air costs nothing.

Surely you have vent windows or air vents in the roof? A lot of the condensation is just from you 2 breathing so ensuring adequate airflow will eliminate the condensation. Otherwise just crank the heating up and have the windows open a bit when you drive off.

Manufacturers of vehicles will be laughing at this. Just change your CAB filter, it's probably never been changed since the day the Motorhome was made yet it should be changed once a year. I'm at fault for not changing my filter often enough also but when I do guess what, yep, the condensation problem disappears, no need for costly additional products as CAB filters are cheap and very easy change.

Dan, I noticed when you were showing the difference between Mazzy's sister's car and the Van, that you had the privacy curtain between the driver's compartment and the rest of the RV pulled closed. Are (were)you getting the condensation when it is both open AND closed? The reason I am asking is, it may be (or may not be) a serious problem that you need to fix right away. Not to scare you guys, but it could turn into a HUGE problem if you don't(if this is the problem). We had a similar problem, but it was with our 2001 Chevrolet Silverado XLT Extended Cab pickup truck. What happened was, one night, we had a horrific rain storm in the middle of the night, and one of the rear windows was left half-way open (we didn't know it was open), which caused the rain to get inside the truck. The next morning, the storm was over but because of the open window, we literally had over an inch of standing water on the front and back floor of the truck. The carpeting was soaked right thru the padding to the floorboards. We immediately went to work on getting the water out using a 'wet~dry' shop vac and a carpet cleaning machine. After about an hour of sucking up water, we finally had extracted all of it...so we thought. The rug felt very dry to touch, but in reality, it was nowhere near dry. We began having the same problem after that.....water literally running down the windows every morning. I finally took the truck to a repair and body shop and the guy there told me that the padding was still saturated, and that the condensation was caused by the water remaining. We ended up not only replacing all of the padding and carpet, but also having the rust on the metal that had developed because of it removed. He told us by simply airing it out and running fans on it for a day or so when we got done vacuuming out the water would have finished drying out the rug and padding, preventing the problem. Maybe the previous owner of your Van had gotten the carpet and padding soaked somehow, and the same thing happened, they never got it 100% dried out. Your prob is you have all of that wood in there which is perfect for growing mold (mainly the dangerous Black mold) and mildew. I would suggest that you expose the carpet padding in a few areas (try along edges first ) and check to see if it is wet. And if it is, do what you have to do to get it dry and also check for mold, mildew or rot on the wood. Oh...do it before the temps go down to freezing too. We had a few incidents where we had to scrape the condensation that froze fro the inside of the windows. Good luck with it. Love you guys and we'll see you in the next one.

Of course another answer you may find for your MoHo windscreen is to buy external "silver screens". You may find you use less heating over the winter that way too, which will save you money when not on EHU. Also a good way to keep the heat out in Summer if we have another one like 2018....
