Steel joker isn't that great because it proc before all the +mult Joker. It only multiply the base mult of the hand. Even if you played 5 steel card like in 1:14:49, you are only getting +132 mult (from (20 * 1.5 ^ 5) - 20). It would be better if you kept the driver lincense.

To add to this, at the end of the run he was playing mostly 4 of a kinds anyways so the steel cards would almost always proc regardless if he had the joker or not

copying the wee lad is at most an x2 when you think about it, copying the x3 from the 4 of a kind joker is 1.5x more powerful, multiplicative is always more powerful than flat, which is weird until you look at it closely. Was a fun run to see and really enjoyed it.

that's not how it works lol, because you are multiplying the chips by multiplier and already have more multiplier. It's like 1*9 being less than 5*5, you have to try to balance both

I think the shop could do with a "test hand" so that you can number crunch in game to find out the optimal joker placement synergies within the deck. Could hide it behind a $5-10 (or even higher if they add an ascension/floor mechanic) paywall to unlock it for that shop only, just to help avoid minmaxing from reducing the fun of figuring out how to bend poker to these new mechanics. A different way to balance it around gameplay could be to just have a mock deck builder on the main menu with all the cards you've played throughout runs (only makes sense to unlock the sandbox mode, you gotta earn that fun)

He also did not use acrobat nor the 6th hand joker in that last losing hand, he still had one more hand to play. Those two stacking up would have been massive, way more than enough.

the steel doesnt do nearly as much as you think because all the multipliers are at the very start and only give you ~200 mult in total.

My critical comment aside, this was the combo I've been waiting for- the deck with no face cards and Ride the Bus. I knew immediately upon seeing those two that this would be one of the most broken combos in the game. It was super satisfying seeing it played at last.

A thought for family vs loyalty card: loyalty card is 4x but since it is only every 5th round it is effectively 1.6x. If you had a deck that did 1 round super burst it would work better potentially, but on a setup with consistent scoring every turn the consistent 3x is miles better.

I think wee joker might be the best chip generator. it also has a good synergy with hack and Fibonacci i think with just those 3 jokers and making a 2 only build you could win pretty high antes. combine that with hit the road jack, brainstorm and blueprint i think you could go to insane antes. also hack when used with steel cards can get some really good multis as you can get 1.5^10 in the best case scenario. mr bones felt like a joker that was worth selling to keep a slot open for a death card as a held death card lets you be chosey about the card you copy like your steel 2 with a 5 of a kind multi.

You got blinded by number big on the wee joker there, copying additive multi bonuses with blueprint should effectively be the same thing as multiplying just that bonus by 2, whereas your X3 joker you sold at the end is strictly better, you not only shouldn't have sold it but you also should've had blueprint on a multiplier rather than an adder

Honestly I think he put too much faith in stencil. Hunt down one additional multiplier, put your blueprint on the highest multiplier. The trips and quads jokers together in hand would have generated insane value with the high chip bonus he was getting.

Great run. Could've gone farther if you didn't overvalue steel cards. Keep in mind that their multiplier comes before the additional multiplier from jokers, so they're essentially worthless, especially at the higher rounds. Getting rid of the 2x or whatever it was for steel cards was a big mistake. Also, getting rid of 3x every hand to keep the 3x if you buy a new joker is what ultimately did you in. I know the one was negative, but still, 3x without qualifications was your strongest joker.

copying wee joker is the equipvalent of a x2 multiplier on blue, which is worse than a x3 multiplier on red, since they are both multipliers x3 would always be better i believe.

Family was x3 every hand whereas loyalty was only x4 last hand. Loyalty would have been pretty worth it with acrobatics- but you ... didn't have a last hand lol.

Yeah suits are played in rank order, through there is a potential for the cards to be scored in the arrangement you play them as it's something the Dev wants to try out. Thanks for watching

You should've gotten rid of steel joker. It's easy to think that 1.5x so many times is really useful, but because of the order in which balatro calculates your score, it barely does anything, because all you're doing is turning the base mult of the hand (let's say 20) by like 5 or something (100 now) and then adding the huge +mult from the bus (like 250) which makes the entire previous mult almost irrelevant (40% increase compared which is worse than any polychrome)

Mr Bones says it "Prevents Death", and in this card game which does not make any pretense of being the story of a character in battle, losing the game is not described as "death" anywhere else. I watched intently for the first time you used a Death tarot card with Mr Bones active, thinking there was a significant chance this was a setup for a nasty surprise.

Because the wee joker was poly chrome. The chips bonus isnt effected by the multis before it but the 1.5x multi from the polychrome gave all those previous multis + 1/2 their value. Good placement for wee joker. Bad placement for blueprint 😔

you are crazy good... BUT YOU DON'T KNOW BASIC MATHS: at 37:30 when you chose to destroy 3 cards instead of getting two more aces you made a mistake. 8 aces in a deck of 34 cards gives you a 23% probability of drawing one and that's what you started with. you chose to destroy three cards improving your probabilty of drawing an ace to 25% (8/31). had you made the choice of getting more aces you whould have had a 29% (10/31) chance of drawing an ace. No disrespect at all i couldn't manage a run like this in a million year, but sometimes you play as though you can't count (another example is selling the acrobats the first time to double a joker when if it had doubled acrobat or the four of a kind multiplier you would have gotten a x27 multiplier). Love your videos and i'd love to play some matches on call with you to confront strategies, best regards, kekko.

you get the biggest score when chips and mult are basically equal! 3000 x 3000 = 9000000 but 200 x 9000 is only 1800000

That's not exactly true. Additional chips is one extra for each multi, as to where each additional multi will double your chips. 3000 x 3000 = 9m, but it's the same for 1000 x 9000. The wee joker is great because it can produce an absurd number of chips, but trying to keep your chips and multi even instead of just trying to maximize overall value will stunt your games. Also, the multi multipliers apply to multi but not chips, so big multi is better than big chips if you have to choose.

On Ante 20 Boss Blind, your negative carved (can't remember the name of it) Joker was effectively useless because you weren't buying and selling Jokers each round. You easily would've won the boss blind if you sold that Joker. I know it's really hard to pay attention to every minute detail when playing and commentating, though.

Yeah it was essentially useless. But being negative he wouldnt open a slot by selling it either 🤷‍♂️ the better play wouldve been just to move it to the right end as last joker and play normally and only buy other negatives or straight improvements, that way its not harming his build by makong him sell (like he did with the family) but also not hurting by taking a slot because it gives a slot. So its like its just not there, but has a chance to proc if its requirements are met. Hope that makes sense.
