I try to lift almost every day, with maybe one or two rest days per week. I don’t do full body workouts every day I break it down into three different types of workouts, as follows: Chest and triceps Shoulders and legs Back, Biceps, and abs I saw this workout written about in Muscle and Fitness or Men’s Health magazine. It made total sense. Actually, I do try to work on my abs a little bit other than the specified day and have two different workout routines for each type of exercise above, to keep from getting bored. Some days at the gym I just take a break and do exercises on the machines I don’t normally use. I do a lot of yoga type stretches each day, which is a must as you get older.

Max, this was yet another valuable interview. Your manner is so welcoming and respectful, and Mark is so humble given all he has achieved. Love your content!!

In general we want the hacks in life. To be happy and healthy. If it can de done more easily and effective. I'm all in. To tell someone, just do 1 hour of walking a week. Vs nothing. That is effective. I discussed this with a neighbor, whos 30 and she said i do not exercise at all. It doesn't agree with me. My wife and I separately said, just start walking. You can suggest hiit or zumba but that usually doesn't resonate. Then again this person said after, they are considering a zumba class. So you never know what to suggest. But anything is better than none. I was a none person for 6 years. I got back into it walking. Now i want to maximize with minimal time. I'm back on to the meal timing game as it's more effective for gross weight loss and maintenance than trying to out exercise it. Cheers, keep this coming. You two are my jacked up mentors.

I hope to be as energetic as Mark in his 70s. I had adrenal fatigue high cortisol low testosterone a couple years ago. Couldnt sleep couldn't even do 5 push ups. Let alone many other things. Its been a long journey. Now at 47, I feel like my body has to do 50 push ups if my breathing gets anxious or i havnt had enough movement yet.

I have to laugh as JJ Virgin was just on Melissa McCallister’s podcast and she spoke about how back in the day, it was just pretty much her, body by Jake and Mark Sisson in the exercise space. I thought who is Mark Sisson lol and now here he is..that is great and so true on the human connection point❤ 🏋️♀️

You can tell from his frame, his stature and the speed in his body language that he is altogether a very healthy human being compared to most 50 YOs let alone 70 YOs.- I have no doubt it is due to his species appropriate diet! Carnivore (ish)...

I go to the gym off and on, and no one’s ever in the place. They sell a lot of memberships, but nobody shows up so this argument is moot to me.! Now what! Thanks

I LOVE DONUTS. I am 6'4" 315LBS. Overweight, but not obese. I have the most trouble with stress eating. I'll go to bed with the best intentions, wake up with a good start (5am Coffee with heavy cream, MCT, cacao, monk fruit, Shylijat, Lions Mane) and have a pretty productive morning, then Kids wake up and well... if you have kids, you understand. OR, work will slap me in the face and it is as if my brain just wants insta-happiness. Which is spicy oily chips, a donut, sugar free energy drink or recess. I love salads, can eat the same salad everyday if I lived next to a salad bar :) prepping my own bar is time consuming. Personally, It feels like it would take an at home chef and nutritionist to truly keep me in check. Try not to oversimplify the challenge some face with food decisions. I trained and coached crossfit for 10 years. I know whats right, but my ADHD brain overrides all logic.

@JohnKonye can you enlist family to help? Everyone jump on the band wagon... Offer incentive if you are successful, something of that nature. I ❤ donuts and they love me... it has been years since I have had one. You can do this... clean out your house... do not buy it or you will eat it.

I have been following lMark since his first book. I have tried so many ways of eating and always come back to paleo type. NSNG, higher protein, non-starchy veggies. Recently found Rope Flow and wow, this movement really does everything in around 5-10 minutes!

Come on, mimic as close to nature as much as possible. Keep as many movements as possible, everyday. Use it or lose it as they say. I am 65 and I do spinning back kick, spinning hook kick, with power. I can still do the entire rack on the lat and seated row machine. Rest is comfort, not too many comfort moments in nature.

If you choose machine exercises, you will not risk injury going to failure. 2x per week. You have to reach failure or very close in order to recruit fast twitch fiber which is the issue especially when you get older. Prevent sarcopenia should be the goal.

The older you get, the harder it is to exercise. Most elderly can't "sprint"! I've been active all my life, and at times, taken exercise classes. Always conscious of what I eat, go on a diet occasionally if start to gain. I worked, usually had to get up early and went to bed at a reasonable hour. Since I retired I like to stay up most nights and explore Social Media. There is so many interesting things on there! Now, I don't get enough sleep and I'm not too vigilant about what I eat. I haven't gained any weight, fluctuate the same all the time. Any regiment that is a regiment is not suitable for me. While wanting to be healthy, I do not want to dedicate my life to it!! I do not want to count calories, lift weights, run to the gym three times a week! I'd rather just be conscious of what I eat, and stay as active as I can and live moderately! These guys are obsessed and boring my self absotbed!

I respect and like Mark. Two constructive criticisms: (1) Why use 15 words to convey what could be said in six words? (2) Mark needs to work on topic maintenance. He’s often all over the board.

If you are going to train with a high intensity, you need to eat carbs pre training. You will not restore glycogen stores over night in a fasted state.
