Bro, that is his personal opinion. There are multiple ways to meditate. Some just sit and calm their mind, some pray or remember god as u said, some like me just listen to music. Meditation is something that calms u, and takes ur focus away from any problems u may have had during the day, and refreshes u... For him, as he repeatedly said, that's helping others, and I can attest to this, as my sister is exactly like him. She just wants to help someone each and everyday.
