As someone who's planning a trip to Japan I really appreciate that you include maps of where you're walking to, this is incredibly helpful! When you're biking are there designated places to park the bike next to the temples or you can just leave the bike anywhere?
@piqtourjapan
@piqtourjapan 5 ай бұрын
Thank you!! And usually at temples there is either a place that has a picture of a bicycle on it where you would park or just park next to where the cars would be parked. Also, you can't park your bike inside the forest, you have to keep moving. 😄

Great video. You do a wonderful job of being honest and letting those of us know who are traveling to Japan what we should do or not do. With limited time and money I appreciate it! Keep making these great videos.

Just got off from Japan and we did a bus tour around Kyoto. Arashiyama was soooo busy and our tour guide mentioned that during Fall, it gets even more crowded. 😱

I was there 2 weeks ago and it was crazy, extremely busy. We left after 15 minutes and found tons of lovely temples and Japanese gardens in the area where we were practically alone.

hello very nice work. Just to let you know, the monk Kukai burry buddha statue in the mountain for the soul (because of sky burrial) and he to buid the first building in the 8th century. But the collect of the small statue like the place we can see now is from late 19th from an other monk. Cheers, no hard feeling i subscribe, i done a video about it too.

Is there anything you'd recommend to see around the Hozugawa river? I'm going in February and I wanted to take the Sagano train, but I heard that it doesn't operate around that time. Read that there's a boat ride there. Interesting or nah?
@piqtourjapan
@piqtourjapan 13 күн бұрын
I've personally never tried it (not a huge fan of boats) but a lot of people do enjoy the boat ride there. I'll note that February is still fairly cold so it might be a bit breezy, lol. Super scenic area though, so if you feel like you'd enjoy it, I'd go for it. Otherwise, I'd suggest even just getting a hot beverage and a snack and going and sitting somewhere along it. Always pleasant. :)

Thanks for the comment! About Yumeyusai-- I think it's very beautiful and if you have the time and want to get pictures, it's very nice, especially if you're visiting when the leaves are changing colors. It is however ¥2000 a person. If interested, you'll definitely need to make a reservation online!
@kobiorama

@@piqtourjapan Thanks! from your experience, do you think we need to make the reservations way in advance? or 1-2 days before should still be possible? (no guarentees, just your thoughts on this)

Randomly found this video yesterday and am glad I watched it. Heading to Kyoto in November and with all the planning, I'm familiar with the Arashiyama sights, but your suggestion to hire a bike is gold! Am now re-thinking my day there. If Tenryuji is a possible skip, what about Daikakuji? Great video by the way, I'm now a new subscriber.
@piqtourjapan
@piqtourjapan 5 ай бұрын
Hi thanks for the support!! And good question, I didn't get to Daikaku-ji this time, but I actually like it. Definitely better than Tenryu-ji, in my opinion. Worth a visit! And yeah, I love bicycling around, like I said it was my first time doing it and I was shocked by how pleasant it was! Got a lot more done than by foot.

I have a question. Are you using tripod around 5:59 when in forest? I'm looking for some light tripod for my phone when I travel solo but I also don't want to use anything that might cause disruption for people around me :x
@piqtourjapan

Yes it's just one of those super small phone tripods. There was basically no one around when I filmed that so I think you'd be okay as long as you're there at a good time!

How long would it take for quick walk through bamboo forest and Monkey Park? Which station is closest?
@piqtourjapan
@piqtourjapan 3 ай бұрын
You can be in and out of the forest in ten seconds if you want. Getting there is very fast from Kyoto station. Monkey Park, however, requires a 15-20 minute hike to the top before you can see the monkeys. There's two different stations there you'd probably use: Arashiyama and Saga-Arashiyama. Depends on where you're coming from. It's something you'd just want to Google Map directions for.

@piqtourjapan will be coming from Kyoto Station. Planning on getting to bamboo forest first before too many crowds? Then to Monkey Park? Also want to visit Higashiyama area just to take a pic of Yasaka Pagoda and visit Yasaka srhine when lit up. Gion or Pontocho for dinner. Not sure how to group together for 2 night? Just myself and teen so dinner not expensive 😁
