THE ARCHITECTS OF THE TURKEY'S NATIONAL VENTILATION MACHINE TOLD THE BACKGROUND STORY

The architects of Turkey’s national ventilation machine, CTO of the Baykar Defence, Selçuk Bayraktar and General Manager of the Biosys Cemal Erdoğan shared their experiences with TRT World.
After only 14 days later of President Erdoğan’s order to start a national initiative to develop a ventilation machine by domestic resources, the consortium gathered by Baykar, Biosys, Aselsan, and Arcelik completed the development process and started to mass production, despite the ongoing effects of the pandemic.

Çok fazla birşey demediler kardeşim. Biosys yaptı, biz de biraz yazılımına yardım ettik ama asıl primi biz yaptık filan dedi. Böylece hemen hemen hiçbirşey yapmadan, vergilerinizle alınacak ve diğer ülkelere yardım olarak yollanacak her ventilatörden şakır şakır para kazanacağız da demesini bekledim ama duyamadım... Yolları açık olsun!

I hope someday government call me and tell , "please design and produce something, and we will buy whatever"... And I go to ASELSAN, tell "ok you have to design electronics", go to TAI," ok you have to design mechanics and avionics" and I, with my software engineers, tell that we design %97 domestically... But why does this synergy happen in such bad times, does the egg need to be leaning on the door? Why do not we create such useful synergies in normal times? Why is this association limited to breathing apparatus only? Why are other medical devices devices not produced with such associations? Let's not produce dialysis devices, tomography, MR or other critical products with this synergy? Again, there are problems in the defense industry due to embargoes about engines, cameras and other high technology, we can hang them together with this type of cooperation, and we should do it .. we can come together not only in troubled days but also in normal times and enter our deficiencies ourselves. we can succeed...
