I trained for the PCT on the AZT near Tucson and Oracle. I compare the loose gravel to walking on an ice skating rink filled with marbles while wearing glass shoes. I ran into the southern Director for the AZT who is a biker. He said the AZT was originally designed and graded for bikers. I asked him how bikers are supposed to stop if they come upon a hiker while going so fast down steep blind gravelly curves. He said, “Good brakes.” Instead of saying “hey bear” like I do in some bearsy areas, I took to shouting“Hiker!”

It could be that your warm breath or even the warm air as compared to the soil takes up more volume in your air mattress and as it cools down it takes up less volume. One of the hiking KZbinrs talked about it in their video but I can't remember who. He suggested topping off the air in the mattress a while after it sets.

You guys are rockin' the miles despite the heat. I hope your kitty buddy will be OK, Julia. Sending prayers . 🙏🏼. I know how tough it is when your little ones are not doing so well. My own feral adoptee who has been my best friend has stopped eating and it is agony to try and figure out what to do. She seems very comfortable and at peace and has had a great life, but it is so, so hard to see them go downhill. So I am sending you all the best thoughts possible as my own best bud naps contentedly on my lap. Take care and cry all you want. I know I do.

What??? How??
@Galiuros3 жыл бұрын
@@jls935 I've been following your AzTrail video series since it popped up on KZbin. I'm sure it was suggested because I'm a backpacker and I follow a couple of other hiking/outdoor channels. Plus, being from Tucson, anytime someone starts the AzTrail, I'll tend to follow it. (I'm currently section-hiking the Arizona Trail and after 20 years I'm down to the last 2 passages (Jacob Lake to the Utah border) and will do them in late May.) So, when I found your channel, naturally I looked at your previous videos of your hikes and eventually came to the video of Wind in Her Hair. It's really well produced and the song and your voice were a perfect match. KXCI is a non-commercial, non-profit community radio station in Tucson. It has been on the air for 38 years thanks to community support, underwriting and grants. It has only 7 paid staff members and about 90 volunteers. All of the on-air DJs, except 4, are volunteers. Each DJ produces their own show. Each show has a theme. KXCI is considered a model for independent radio. I happen to be one of the volunteer on-air DJs/programmers. I created and produce a music show called American Traditions, which has been on the air for 16 years. The show is broadcasted on Sunday mornings for two hours starting at 10. When I heard your song I knew it would be a good fit for the show. Here is a link to the playlist. Wind In Her Hair aired at 1134. spinitron.com/KXCI/pl/12798505/American-Traditions Thanks for the music!

Interestingly, forest fores are actually great for the local ecology. They're just bad for humans. Burning down forests of dominant trees and plant life leaves room for other flora and fauna to compete, which is healthier for ecosystems.
