I just picked this up on release day Tuesday, and you have already read it 😂 Im excited, I love this whole series. The Pillars of the Earth is one of my top five all-time books.

I’m as big of a follet fan as you are and finished this book last week. The only thing that detracted from this was I had read WWE and Pillars in August and September so that same magic wasn’t QUITE there after 2000 pages of the other books. But of course it still rocks, it’s still another great novel in my favorite series ever. What’s your personal rank of the 5 kingsbridge novels?

Great review. Wow this book just came out day before yesterday. Well you have said you drop everything for Follett, as one of those authors for you. I have only read Pillars and WWE, I am planning on re-reading these, and finishing the series. Do you think I should read in order published or in chronological order? Thanks.

If you have not read the yet, I would recommend chronological. That being said IMO there is not much difference as long as you read pillars before WWE

Purchased the book Tuesday and will read the 'Kingsbridge' pentalogy in it's entirety by the end of the year; for the first time.

I've been thinking of getting into Ken Follett for years, and it's so difficult to figure out where to start, precisely because all of his books seem to be so fricking good. Glad to hear he's still going strong, in any case.

seconded on the kingbridge series i happened to read pillars of the earth on a whim and I'm in love with how he tells a story, very satisfying

Start with the Pillars of the Earth. It's so absorbing, very dynamic characters and a depth of detail that makes it an enjoyable read.

I’ve read Pillars (one of my favorite books) and World Without End. Gave up on A Column of Fire. Wondering if I should try The Evening and the Morning or The Armor of Light. Anyone have an opinion?
@corinnamattison10 ай бұрын
I really liked The Evening and the Morning. Exciting and easy to follow. They are excellent audio books aswell if that makes it easier.
@cynthiafialka10 ай бұрын
@@corinnamattison thanks for replying, I appreciate your opinion. I don’t do audio books (maybe I should). So, I’ll read a print book!

I'm too didn't like a column of fire. All the others are brilliant
@markelliott97378 ай бұрын
The Evening and the Morning seems to be more like the first two. A Column of Fire seemed to have shifted the focus away from the town too much that it felt like a "Kingsbridge" book in name only.

Sounds Dickensian. I like reading about that period in the history od England.

I liked this one but it was the weakest of the five

Unfortunately the book material is cheap as. It's not thr usual nice hardback that we're used to getting with Follett, and at $31. But we are living in Joe Biden's America, so there's that. Anyway, the book is at least surprisingly good so far. Right now I'm at a 7 out of 10 for the book. I may adjust at the end, we'll see. My score on Amazon will definitely be lower due to the quality of the book according to the dollar, though that might not be the author's fault. Thanks Brian, I knew you'd be the first to review.

It’s the weakest entry in the series imo.
@12234d8 ай бұрын
I agree. It’s just so low stakes.
@John-om3dx8 ай бұрын
@@12234d it’s so predictable and formulaic from all the past kingsbridge series books.
