As a decorated Army Combat vet of the Vietnam War after rotating back to the world (sneaking back in), I threw my fully dressed uniform in the garbage later on. What the hell no welcome home for our troops then and almost ashamed to wear it walking down the street.

Hello I have a question you regret having thrown away your uniform?
@drofmah38362 ай бұрын
@@Andrew_Tate-G that was over 50 years and any and all connections I had with the military being drafted at age 18 and in the Infantry I like to forget the entire time and back home at 20 but at least the military is paying me for 100% disability today but no I don't miss it. Every single item on my uniform is now in a display case medals, ribbons, patches and such hanging on my wall with my discharge, a certificate for being in combat and that's enough for me. I do wear a ball cap with a CIB, rank pin and unit pin and large word Vietnam most of the time but that's about it for military garb for me

Another badge awarded for combat action, specifically for field medics is the CFMB (Combat Field Medic badge.) Looks like the CAB but with a litter and caduceus symbol in the center, and wreath around it. The medic badge in your video is the EFMB - expert field medic badge, which is a qualification badge that is earned by passing a test, much like the EIB - expert infantryman's badge.
@rebel1916-s5f5 жыл бұрын
To explain a bit better: If someone has an Airborne tab that is apart of their unit patch, then that means that that unit is Airborne qualified. However, you specifically are not apart of that unit, you are just assigned to that unit. For instance, someone wearing an MP Brigade unit patch on their left shoulder. Doesn't mean that they are a Military Policeman, they could, but generally does not mean they are what the patch is,

Matt, thank you for your service. Very informative video, but where I think it could've been improved a great deal is if you had an actual ACU/OCP uniform shirt with all the patches and badges on it. Showing pictures of a patch and then pointing on your black t-shirt where each would go (if you had the uniform on) is kind of insufficient. Military rules on patch/badge placement are often exacting and so it would've been more illuminating to have seen these things on an actual uniform.

Interesting video, I thought that it was going to be an explanation of how to recognize rank of fellow soldiers, seems like that is the most important thing to look for first.
@georgedykes5533 Жыл бұрын
I was waiting for the explanation of where the rank is positioned. I have never liked that the rank was moved to the chest area. It was much better when it was worn on the collar along with the branch insignia on the other collar. I don’t think there is any place for the branch insignia on the current uniform. Why?

Thanks for the in depth badge/patch info. It's very informative and I hope to see more. Isn't the cib patch something very important cause i see in movies and tv and John Wayne wearing their green fatigues and on their blouse usually the only 2 subdued patches they wear is the CIB and or the parachute patches. I was at the pool with my little daughter some years past and their was a vacationing soldier with his kids next to us and he had a tattoo of the CIB over his heart so that's what I was wondering. So thanks for explaining this.

Great video, Matt! I have a weird question: I'm looking for a patch that I saw in one of your videos on the sleeve of a soldier's uniform (I think it was your channel, could be wrong tho). The patch depicted a "video camera rifle". Basically a video camera with a pistol grip, stock etc. Do you by any chance know where I can find the patch or do you recall the image / video where it was used? Then we continue chatting at Hangouts. He made me fall in love using your picture. And ofcourse also his attitude of being sweet and caring. But I know to my self there is something wrong. He has a lot of alibi when I ask him to make a video call. And from the help of one picture he sent me, you are wearing a military uniform and I saw your name there as Ward. By the way he said He's Scotty Ward. So when he send the picture of you, wearing military uniform including your last name Ward, I thought everything is ok. So I try to search your name here in KZbin, because he send a short video of yours running. He said he was running while taking a video message for me. But the video looks like from the vlogger.
